If they did, it surely has evaporated and decomposed.
I'd say it's only ground water and/or rain water.
If you do drop a flare, make sure that it'll (slowly) sink by taping it to rock or piece of metal if it is too buoyant.
That way you'll see how deep the water in the silo is.
Would be nice for a video.
If you're still scared, take fire blanket and a fire extinguisher with you.
