Cubits or long cubits? Depends on the forearm, regardless.

I am starting to understand some of the Trumpist anger regarding immigration. A few friends of mine have to move out of our hometown now since rent prices are going up. Meanwhile Asian and Indian immigrants and their children are moving in in their place. The local high school was just split into two to accommodate the immigrant families who want more specialized classes. I resent that I have to share and compete for services I paid my whole life into with people who just showed up last year or two.

I paid local sales taxes for 26 years. NJ state income taxes for 10. I have been going to the same businesses since I was a child. I definitely have contributed to this town more than Chen Liu HB1 from Yunnan.

Don't get sanctimonious with me either. You were complaining about Chinese moving to your town here a few months ago. You called them the yellow plague.

Well, it's the downside of the American obsession with mobility and not wanting to be a townie. We don't put down roots anywhere for more than a generation and then we whine when new people move in and change shit up.

Trump is so pro-management that immigrants may have to move back to China, India, and Mexico to keep their American jobs.

Unless they are blowing me or paying my rent, they can live the next town over and visit on the weekends.

FDA essentially wiped out the vaping industry on Monday. The biggest beneficiaries will be the tobacco industry. Thanks regulatory capture!

I'll try to find it in my heart to feel bad for people who are running out of noxious things to exhale in my direction.

The cancer risk for millions of people was drastically reduced  (95%) and yet all you care about is the chance someone in whatever rural shit hole you live in might exhale fruity flavored water vapor near you. Idiot.

Earlier this year, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) ruled that electronic smoking devices (like vape pens and e-cigarettes) will be considered “tobacco products” and, as such, will not be available to consumers under 18 years of age. The regulation of sales were in effect starting Monday.

For retailers and customers, this means the purchase of e-cigarettes is no different than that of cigars and traditional cigarettes. Retailers are mandated to verify a consumer’s age using a valid photo ID, as per the Tobacco Control Act of 2009.

“This action is a milestone in consumer protection. Going forward, the FDA will be able to review new tobacco products not yet on the market, help prevent misleading claims by tobacco product manufacturers, evaluate the ingredients of tobacco products and how they are made, and communicate the potential risks of tobacco products,” said the FDA in an announcement.

The regulation will have an impact for young users, as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevent found that use amongst teens has tripled in a year. A recent study, published in Environmental Science & Technology, found that vapor from e-cigarettes contain 31 harmful chemicals. Two of those chemicals, acrolein and formaldehyde, are potential carcinogens.

Sounds like smart regulations. People under 18 shouldn't be given such easy access to nicotine infused products. Especially when the industry around it goes to great lengths to promote it as harmless fun.

It treats all vaping equipment, e-juice etc as a tobacco product, even though it doesn't contain any tobacco. Each product has to be independently tested by the FDA whose cost per application is $1,000,000. So for a mom and pop shop that had 50 flavors on their menu, it will cost them $50,000,000 to have each one tested. Same goes for manufacturers of coils, mods etc. You know who wins? RJ Reynolds, who sells Blu. They have two flavors and one type of vape pen.

They just put every independent retailer in the country out of business. Smart regulations.

Mom and pop places shouldn't be allowed to create their own digestible products. There should be FDA oversight over products and consumers should be protected from small producers scamming or poisoning them. Consumer health is more important the ability of drug users to open up stores to push addictive products.

We should shut down all family farms and rely only on factory farms. I know you're trolling, maybe not, either way you come off as anti-science and dumb as a fence post.

You would think someone who comes from a family with drug abuse problems would care more about protecting people from addiction.

Of course they should, or just shut down every restaurant.

Restaurants use FDA regulated food and get health inspections. Jay is upset that small shops are able to put together their own chemical solutions without any regulations regarding their content. He is mad that the FDA told shops they have to only sell to 18 year olds the same way restaurant aren't allowed to sell wine to 12 year olds.
