Temporarily maybe. So what? It was their choice to make.

Suicide is a choice too. Doctors don't recommend it.

I think tying yourself economically to the economies of Italy, Greece, and Spain is suicidal. They've just returned from the brink. They're going to feel short term pain and (probably) long term success.

They have 5% unemployment, and their own currency. How tied where they really?

In retrospect, a 60% super majority would have made sense to have.

in may one of the leaders of the leave camp was saying on TV that a projected 52:48 result would clearly mandate a second referendum.

he also said that the '£350m extra a week for the NHS' pledge is not going to happen nor is it feasible... the morning of the result.

in his victory speech he also fired up some top class revolutionary rhetoric and said 'we've achieved victory without a single bullet being fired'.

the day before was the public funeral of an MP who was shot and stabbed to death whilst campaigning for the other side.

but hey, at least you aren't beholden to those evil technocrats in Brussels!

It's kind of depressing to watch clips of people who voted for 'brexit' talk about their wrong decision and how much regret they have. If there's one take-away for Americans, we now know the shock people will be in if Cheeto-Face gets elected.

"wait, what? He actually WON?! FUCK!"

yeah so many people just dived into the mass hysteria of the event. leave gathered momentum as a protest/don't tread on me thing and now everyone is shit scared that they've actually been noticed. it's like the naughty kid in class who baits the teacher from the back of the room all lesson and is shocked and embarrassed into tears when the teacher finally raps them on the knuckles.

been a lot of tears today at work and in public. weird feeling around. going to be a lot of fights in bars and pubs tonight.

The referendum was non-binding and the process will take two years? Any chance the government will call for another vote or ignore it in light of the already mounting disaster?

Well jesus fucking Christ what a mess.

The leave voters seem to be mostly Labour working class, and they didn't even understand what the were voting for, only what they were voting against which was unchecked immigration.
When they realise they voted for a 20% rise in the cost of everything, higher unemployment and lower govt spending they'll be pissed.
Well done Jeremy Corbyn for doing exactly fuck all, to most of the leave camp for turning tail and hiding now they've got what they thought they wanted, and Cameron for failing to get any kind of useful concessions out of Europe to head this thing off.

I would pinpoint the root cause and trigger issue as Merkel throwing the door open to migrants and expecting the whole of Europe to take their 'share' of her generosity. Fewer people are aware of the way she socialised the fallout from the stupidity of the German banks and their Greek lending failures.

I'm going to stick my neck out and make a bold prediction - the Brexit is not going to go through. I don't think anyone actually has the balls to push it through and deal with the consequences.
This article seems right to me.
http://indy100.independent.co.uk/articl … bJhqBql0VZ

If it does go through its going to be calamitous for the British economy. The EU hard core are not going to take this rejection of their nonsense social justice plan lightly. They will ensure Britain is screwed - until they remember its a big market for BMW and Mercedes that is, then things might change a bit, but the Euros will get everything they want and Britain will be begging for scraps and be left in a much worse position than now.

The nightmare scenario now is for that imbecile Boris Johnson, who only jumped on the Brexit bandwagon as a vehicle for self-promotion, to be elected PM and push it through, trigger Northern Ireland and Scotland to separate from the UK, and god knows what else, possibly an actual revolution. It looks like he already has cold feet.

What was truly retarded about this was to allow a simple majority to decide something this momentous. It should have been a 2/3rds majority at least. Or what do we do, have a referendum every few years and jump in and out as the vote flips either side of 50%? Pure retardation.

I suppose the most retarded part of all was to have a plebiscite in the first place, as far as I remember Cameron found Farage an irksome oik and wanted to shut him up for good. That has backfired, top kek.....

Teresa May will be PM and will find a way to wriggle out of the Brexit. That's if Cameron isn't persuaded to stay on which I think is about 50:50.

dilbs i think everyone saw this coming. at least the collapse of the leave campaign as soon as they got the unexpected victory. perhaps not to this extent, which is truly a machiavellian affair – scheming MPs registering web domains for their own leadership bid far in advance of the public implosion, and so on – but there you go. of course, another twist of the blade has come in the form of the labour party disintegrating and having its own crisis-moment coup (similarly with the implications that this plot has been in the pipeline throughout the whole campaign; various PR companies that work parallel to the political party have been manoeuvring their own candidates and news stories for weeks). it's all a bit gross. the UK political system currently has no legitimacy and no leadership. all the candidates stepping up to fill the void are much the same sort of automatons we had under the last 10 years of consensus government.

the people drawing the most popular support right now from the body politic are probably corbyn and farage. it's a sanders and trump scenario all over again. seems like many western governments since the economic crash and various political upsets are experiencing a widespread legitimation crisis. austerity-wot?
