dude the whole misanthropic angle is understandable when you're an angsty teen but praising the death of innocent people is just plain wrong.  Here's a thought - turn the fucking TV off or change the channel.  I really don't understand why people watch CNN or any 24 hour "news" channel anyway unless they are catatonic

According to the supreme court, the first amendment gives you the right to scream at women getting an abortion, for corporations to spend unlimited amounts of money on elections, allows people to not pay their union dues, and gives employers the right to deny contraception coverage to their workers.

I don't think this was the intent of the framers of the constitution.

Ruling that corporations are people so "them" spending money is then protected as free speech, requires a lot of logical missteps along the way imo.

Why isn't anyone in the media mentioning how the U.S. has destabilized and undermined the governments of central America from the 19th century until the 1990's? Why isn't there a discussion about how our drug appetite and policy is screwing up our neighbors? Why don't people care about our guns fueling drug and guerrilla warfare south of our borders?

That is a harder conversation than it is to discuss what to do with refugee children.

Why hasn't mainstream media hit on the fact that our foreign policy in the Middle East foments terrorism?
Why hasn't mainstream media covered the fact our backwards immigration policy rewards illegal immigration for the benefit of large corporations and agribusiness in the form of cheap labor
Why hasn't mainstream media covered the injustices in Africa that allow us to have smartphones for cheap?
Why hasn't mainstream media covered strategic partnerships between the US government and ruthless dictators that allow friendly US corporations to operate ruthless labor camps and employ indentured servitude for our fervent materialism?  Corporations that in turn incorporate in tax-friendly nations resulting in them being net winners from a tax perspective?

Personally, I'd much rather hear about that poor little cute blond girl who went missing in Alabama and the latest celebrity fashion.  And coming up at 10, Playboy Mansion Parties!

You're asking why mainstream media doesn't question fundamental US foreign policy?  When has the mainstream media ever been significantly anti-establishment?  Reporting on OWS and other trivialities doesn't count.

People care.  Money doesn't...in fact the quest for profit fuels the foreign policy decisions that lead to Banana Republics and instability in the Middle East.  American foreign policy is incredibly short-sighted.  I know I've made the comparison of our government's foreign policy decisions vis a vis the overwhelming spirit of American consumerism and materialism.  We want instant fixes, instant money, instant, short-term reward and we will deal with the repercussions later.  It manifests in so much more than our stupid consumerism and pop culture.

Dude, virtually no one in the US save the people in power agree with the Citizens United decision, or various decisions since the 14th amendment was ratified that have led to corporations gaining rights afforded to citizens under the constitution.   Just like I'm sure I can't take policy decisions enacted by Putin as representing the free will of Russians.  It's stupid.  You're smarter than that, so quit with the hyperbole.  It makes me just want to zzzzz every time you post.

Putin wasn't elected by the greatest and most democratic system the world has ever seen though was he?

I don't see much difference between the US and Russia in terms of how much say the average citizen has against being raped by the plutocrats.
Except maybe the average 'merican swallows the propaganda more easily. Maybe its the fat and fructose laden food that keeps them docile and dumb?
