where's the conspiracy? the us government helped fund development for a software that is meant to gather as much information about you as possible from your online presence. nobody is dreaming up conspiracies about it; the simple fact it exists is plenty worrying enough.

And that, friends, is why you don't 'check in' anywhere.
your ip information or mobile phone signal discloses where you are, geographically, anyway. not as if everyone is openly using facebook's 'check in' feature. just by having your phone on, you can be triangulated.
I know. Well, not triangulated, but if you're using a mobile phone they can tell where you are based on which tower you are connected to at that point. You would have to have connections to multiple towers at the same time to be triangulated. I know the NYPD has software that allows them to do that.
Your phone is at all times using the GPS, which does not require reception. I took photos on Clouds Rest in Yosemite NP and it could place where I was by embedding the location into the photo data, despite being 4 hours hike from our car, which was also out of reception range. No, it wasn't pinpoint accuracy, but the fact it could still determine an approximate location means that over time it accuracy will only improve.

No, but I view this site more as an interactive blog where I get instant feedback on my beliefs that helps me gain clarity. I don't believe everything I've argued here, but basically why I post is boiled down by this quote:

"The peculiar evil of silencing the expression of an opinion is, that it is robbing the human race; posterity as well as the existing generation; those who dissent from the opinion, still more than those who hold it. If the opinion is right, they are deprived of the opportunity of exchanging error for truth: if wrong, they lose, what is almost as great a benefit, the clearer perception and livelier impression of truth, produced by its collision with error."

A western corporation profiteering off the cheap labor, raw materials and disorderliness of African nations.

That's not to say it's limited to non-western nations. Starbucks did a similar thing in but to the UK a while back. Albiet it was on a much larger scale. They were able to avoid paying a few hundred million dollars in taxes. After they were outed by the news they "agreed" to pay a bit more in taxes yearly. Obviously a pr stunt/cost of doing business for these big-business giants.

More than 100,000 people have joined a social networking site designed for conservatives who said they were tired of censorship and liberal bullying on Facebook.

The Tea Party Community launched nine days ago — and since then has experienced tremendous growth, founder Tim Selaty, Sr., told Fox News.
“I suppose that a lot of conservatives were looking for a new home,” he said. “(Conservatives) are flocking from Facebook in droves.”

I'm sorry but that's the funniest thing I've read all day!

Maybe my facebook wall will become less spammy with pro-NRA messages and Bible verses.

I read down further and now I kind of see their point:
“We’ve been hearing non-stop, email after email, tweet after tweet, of other folks who are facing the same issues,” Weaver told Fox News. “There’s a very active liberal trolling community whose sole purpose is to get themselves busy reporting conservative pages and trying to cause trouble.”

Those same trolls tried to disrupt the Tea Party Community.

Selaty said they were hit by a DOS attack on launch day that shut down the social networking site.

A website, Something Awful, tried to infiltrate the site and began sending offensive messages to members.
“They tried to be as disruptive as possible,” he said. “At the end of the day, we’ve got a pretty good handle on it. Their infiltration is becoming less and less.”
I can see quite a few people on this forum participating in crap like that if someone gave them a link to follow and told them to make fun of conservatives...

Conservatives are just such an easy target though.

Did you hear Rand Paul is giving the tea party a state of the union response too?

Apparently they feel left out by the GOP.

Not right wing enough for them I guess...

The Man Who Killed Osama bin Laden... Is Screwed
For the first time, the Navy SEAL who killed Osama bin Laden tells his story - speaking not just about the raid and the three shots that changed history, but about the personal aftermath for himself and his family. And the startling failure of the United States government to help its most experienced and skilled warriors carry on with their lives.

It has been an eventful week and it is only Tuesday. Pope resigns and North Korea blows up another nuke. If we are lucky we might get a terrorist attack by the weekend.

Most of the shit you post is just as dumb. The difference is you are young, computer savvy, and can call on a legion of reddit users who believe the same dumb things you do to fuck with them.

Then they turn around and cry when the same people they troll push legislation that would strip them of their internet anonymity and fuck it up for the rest of us. They're abusive.

'liberal' is just the go-to default pejorative for people opposed to the conservative right's beliefs. you have to understand that in american political discourse, the term 'liberal' has been sullied to the point that it is effectively a shorthand way of calling someone a nincompoop. there's no actual serious political ideology involved: it's just "you're opposed, you're a liberal".

a few of my friends are in seoul, just a few miles south of the NK border. apparently SK are always really nonplussed about NK's posturing and preening. the rest of the world - especially the west and the UN - always gets its knickers in a twist, but from what i've heard, on the ground, NK's activities are always page3-4 type news fodder in SK. quite interesting tbh.

I can believe that about SK. played eve with a few SKoreans who'd done their national service and they never really talked about it. because its something you live in proximity to 24/7 it just becomes 'just another thing' i guess. same reason having to go through checkpoints or deal with road closures in NI never really annoyed me or anyone i know.

compare that to the 'bomb threat' manchester last week (turned out to be some dudes laptop and charger) where facebook flooded with 'omg theres a bomb im scared omg where are the police' etc etc

how do people type on these fucking touchscreens

Yes, it's our fault that our government implemented programs they thought we'd want, but didn't necessarily need without raising the taxes to offset the cost of said programs. We're the ones with the with the votes in Congress. Typical elitist bullshit. Raise taxes so we can dream up even more programs to help people we feel are too stupid to help themselves.

Wow - you want real names and phone numbers on the internet for each user? How about an ID the government can use to track you?

Libertarians are a funny group. Decry government failure and that you want more freedom, except when it actually comes down to the real world. More government to track the trolls!

You should be "crying" too, if not even moreso should the government want to strip internet anonymity.
