In the US, corporations are legally considered persons.

"Corporations are People too!" - that has to be one of the top five most batshit insane legal precedents ever passed.
Legal person =/= person

it just means companies can be sued (and not just their owners) and have the right sue others (especially in cases of intellectual property laws).

but that's another whole topic
If you were half the legal/constitutional scholar you pretend to be, you'd know the consequences of considering coporations as citizens is very far reaching. The creep on the 14th amendment has been taking place for at least 20 years- and the citizens united case goes to show the creep isn't ending any time soon, in fact is getting worse. That bullshit you said about IP is just the tip of the iceberg - there are far more troubling issues (one of which is mentioned by rdx- all the positives, minimal amount of negative). In other words, cybargs you have no idea what you are talking about.
Yeah I said corporations = citizens

Ok lets not consider them as a legal person. If a company does some bad shit, who you're going to sue? the employees? the owners? shareholders? Who's going to be financially responsible? A corporation is just a representation of people. That is why a lot of companies are limited liability for it's shareholders.

What about NGOs? Legally they are corporations. You think the ACLU should not be given the same first amendment rights as every other citizen?

Chomsky thinks that corporations are not people but instead "super people". And considering their status they shouldn't be treated or have the same rights as people.

But you can take away all their assets and throw their employees in jail.

Kid may be suspended for violating rules. The rules are ridiculous (no weapons, real or imaginary), but according to that article, he hasn't been suspended yet. Good sensationalism though, 10/10

Why is this called "Disaster Movie?" It was from the 1997 "Bean" movie.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013/fe … ia-defence

A multinational security firm has secretly developed software capable of tracking people's movements and predicting future behaviour by mining data from social networking websites.

A video obtained by the Guardian reveals how an "extreme-scale analytics" system created by Raytheon, the world's fifth largest defence contractor, can gather vast amounts of information about people from websites including Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare.

Hardly surprised but found it interesting to see software like that in action. That being said I think it will make me reconsider how I use social media and my iPhone in future. Only a matter of time before it gets leaked.

And that, friends, is why you don't 'check in' anywhere.

your ip information or mobile phone signal discloses where you are, geographically, anyway. not as if everyone is openly using facebook's 'check in' feature. just by having your phone on, you can be triangulated.

I know. Well, not triangulated, but if you're using a mobile phone they can tell where you are based on which tower you are connected to at that point. You would have to have connections to multiple towers at the same time to be triangulated. I know the NYPD has software that allows them to do that.

But in all seriousness, what is the point of software like Raytheons? Anybody that is seriously contemplating committing a crime is going to use a burner phone or a fake social media account. Seems less than useful in completing its stated goal, but incredibly useful if the goal is to track every citizen everywhere...

for a libertarian you are surprisingly lax about software that can indiscriminately track anyone.
