yeah, that's what made me make the post. second part of the post refers to the occasional anti-assad protests which you occasionally see, though, and i completely applaud those.
i think our particular protest was run by a particular extremist sect, though (hizb ut-tahrir) who are genuine nutjobs, and certainly not interested in peaceful demonstration. thugs, basically. don't think this protest was legal either.

I saw an egyptian rioter being interviewed and he had one simple demand: that the US gov't capture and execute the people who made this stupid video. these fucking people obviously have internet access, why don't they do a quick research on the US constitution or even basic western culture. or has that not been translated into chicken scratch yet? we don't execute people who make shitty videos and do stupid stuff, we tear their lives apart with media scrutiny and then the government looks at the leftover pieces and decides if there are any ancillary crimes that can be punished. that's how we do it, it's far more entertaining.
