I was reading the 2010 report on Gangs in NJ and found this under the "Gangs in schools" section.
https://static.bf2s.com/files/user/47545/gang.png
These figures are based on school officials reports. This is why I'll bet my left leg the report overstates gang presence in NJ. I have a feeling that school officials have way too broad definitions of what is gang clothing or signs. Especially considering they have no idea how much drugs are sold in their schools. I finished HS back in '08 and though there was zero gangs activity, I could get everything from coke to pot from other students while in school. I am 100% sure that gang activity doesn't rate anywhere near drug activity.

I can imagine a balding fat principal in a bad suit registering baggy pants and dew rags as gang clothing. Gah

So much gang violence

wondering what I'll drink to celebrate when the Dems get the boot in November, not that I particularly care for the Republicans either. I'm just sick of the failed promises, at least the Republicans are upfront about not giving a fuck.

Not sure how that makes one better than the other, the Dems didn't create any new problems and tried to address some of the existing ones at least.

Never going to be a true Democracy (or proper Republic) until election ballots have the option "E) None of the above. Fuck off and find some candidates that are actually qualified to hold the office"

Option E Would've saved us a ton of problems over the last 60 years.

Current Presidential system effectively asks the voter, "Would you like to be sodomized by a blue donkey, or fellate a red elephant?  You must pick one"

Isn't that exactly the same as not voting at all? Or are you saying you want a donkey vote option or similar?

I would like to see a true none of the above option.

If a majority of the public feels none of the available candidates are qualified, then the campaign cycle is redone.
Say, for example, if "none of the above" had won in a Presidential race, the incumbent spends another year in office while new candidates are campaigned.

(Yes, I'm aware of the electoral college. The point above was to get the general concept across)

The point of this option is twofold;
  • Keeps the public from being forced into a "hold your nose and vote for the least offensive pile of shit on the ticket" situation.  Both parties are horribly corrupt, stacked with career bureaucrats and legacy appointments (Clintons and Bushes and Kennedys, oh my!).  With the current system, you're either screwed or fucked - pick one, but you must pick.
  • Gives the disenfranchised a vote. I would estimate that the majority of Americans are not comfortable with either major party.  The GOP is pandering to the Religious Right, the Democrats are pandering to the Union PACs and Limo Liberals.  Neither party has any interest in the middle-of-the-road American that wants fiscal responsibility, fair laws for everyone, and doesn't really care what your religion or sexual preference is, as long as you don't force it on your neighbor.

You need compulsory voting for a start for that idea to work, if 50% of the population put in a null vote then it would be fair to re-run the election.
Some form of proportional representation would still be better than first past the post which gives you your default two-party state.

Not if you put this system into place.
