It wasn't 'real growth', it was also a bubble.

Two bubbles in parallel and necessarily connected, any more than the dot com boom was caused by the US property boom.

Many countries have high corporation tax and still get into huge property bubbles, its not really relevant.
Like the US, circa 2007.

this happens maybe once a year in europe, though, period (and i'm saying once a year here being mindful of the norway attacks, which were literally exceptional in the sickest way possible). people get shot and there are multiple gun homicides in america like... every... singe day.

Europe doesn't really have any of those, anyway. Don't like them in their homogeneous societies, you know. Bunch of misfit rabble-rousers.

But you're just to damn hip to get it, I suppose.

A book I was reading about Rome briefly mentioned Marcus Aurelius so I know all about stoicism now. Does anyone want to talk about how the republicans don't  understand the philosophical roots of their political positions?

lmao. marcus aurelius = stoicism? funny. in our classics classes we're taught that the original stoic is zeno. and ofc the most widely read is seneca. that all predates rome by a lot. stoicism isn't even a roman philosophy. though i guess you're being wrong and stupid on purpose to mimic our other great philosophical monographer, dr. jay galt, mphil, phd, obe, vc.

historical inaccuracy aside, you may be talking about diogenes. they weren't stoics, they were cynics.

Joe Lieberman is on Fox News right now trying to sell SOPA. I hate that mercenary whore. Only member of congress I wish harm on.

I might actually vote for Obama if Gingrich is picked for Pres. or VP He's worse than Palin.

I don't know what it's like in the US but from these parts of the world it looks like the next election is going to be a cakewalk for Obama. The opposition is a joke.

May just be my euro bias though

Your media is more biased than ours is. Anyone that the Republicans put up in any election is the object or ridicule and scorn

well when people give people like sarah palin/rick perry airtime it is quite easily to ridicule them .the other side is no better ofc, but it seems america is incapable of electing someone quite normal for the top job
