Why are you blaming the Tea Party of all groups? The TP has nothing to do with the religious fundamentalism you're whining about.

"I believe in evolution and trust scientists on global warming. Call me crazy."

How many of the other GOP candidates agree with Huntsman on global warming and evolution? Do any?
1. Man-made climate change isn't a certainty...that's what they are arguing, not that "global warming isn't happening." There is a distinct difference.

2. I don't recall any of them denying evolution itself as occurring. Some of them may have an issue with blindly excluding with a fanatical mentality the possibility that creationism may have played a role, along with evolution.

Taking the above positions does not put one at odds with Huntsman in any way.

As I said earlier in the thread, name something religiously motivated that Obama has done which you disagree with as it is bad for America.

I can bet you all money that it is nothing in comparison to what the GOP front runners would be willing to do. Save for perhaps"call me crazy" Huntman.
As I said earlier in this thread, religious affiliation was not important enough to significantly sway voters. We're talking about what we knew before he was president, clearly. It's the idea of what having a religious affiliation that is out there that is important with regards to electability. What he has or has not done since winning the Presidency is completely irrelevant to the point. You're seemingly defending Obama and Wright just for the sake of doing so.

Be willing to do? You sound like the omg Obama is a Muslim people now.
Like it or not the GOP is quickly becoming the anti-science party. You don't need to look into the religious affiliation of Rick Perry to see what he thinks about Creationism and Intelligent design, he'll preach that himself to you. So if you want to compare the Wright affiliation to Obama and electability, take a look at the other side of politics and their religious "affiliation".

Maybe it's the inevitable outcome when the "omg Obama is a Muslim" rhetoric is so heavily pushed by certain groups that you wind up with a young Earth creationist President...
Have you read my Rick Perry thread? AR you are an example of limited mindless, like it or not. You've been trying to pigeon hole me ever since we started this discussion. Frankly I think you should know better than that by now.

I began by trying to make a point downplaying religious affiliation, and your response was a hyperbolic nazi comparison, as well as highlighting how little religious has affected the Obama presidency. Umm hello? Have you realized yet you are making my point for me?

Maybe you should consider the very real fact that the "omg Obama is a muslim" stuff began before he was elected.. and he still got the office. I know certain parts of the media love to paint Americans as largely intolerant (as a whole). Never mind the black man occupying our highest office.

Try to keep up...I'm not lowing. I honestly was trying to figure out what you were trying to say.

As to TP demographics:

https://i.imgur.com/wvQxi.gif

Pretty much the same as the rest of America, to include minorities. To call the tea party racist is just parroting the DNC talking points, without addressing the substance of their platform--which has the square root of fuckall to do with race.

he believes all the black people in Utah wear a Jazz jersey to work, is still pissed at Lincoln, and is fairly representative of the grass roots movement to get a black American out of the highest elective executive office.

It doesn't exist. Not for the tea party anyway, nor for either of the two major political parties. Does Olympia Snow represent the Republican Party as a whole even though she has an (R) next to her name?

Yeah. Except the Tea Party started before Obama was elected. Like back when Bush was still in office. As a response to his "out of control" spending.

So...

the Republican Party that i grew up with and supported for thirty years is gone. The Republicans introduced the moral majority, brought religion to the right when carter rebuffed them.

the slavery as you put it has nothing to do with the color of a man's skin, it has everything to do with the flight of capital from this country. it's 'slavery' because that's a handier term than 'the economic class that was created when rich people started investing off shore'.

There isn't one main group or one main leader of the tea parties. There are thousands of different groups composed of thousands of individuals, so it clearly is an independent movement, which means you are going to have independent agendas across the board. The overall concern of Tea Party members is fiscal responsibility and government spending too much. People want lower taxes because when you have less taxes you have more money in your pocket to do what you need to do for yourself and your family. We want less spending and accountability. What's not good for the country is a government spending too much money that we clearly don't have, which means we are in debt and obligated to other countries to pay for that debt. Less interaction for government on individuals means more freedom and choices for individuals.

Wages have been declining mostly due to loss of union manufacturing jobs and outsourcing. Also, we have absurdly high unemployment for the past four years.
