If deficits can be compared by magnitude then so can wars - just look at the relative costs between Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya.

Obama inherited two wars, a financial meltdown and the interest payments on Bush's debt increase.
And in percentage terms to two increases are about comparable - so far - nothing like the "greater than all preceding increases put together" in either absolute or percentage terms.
And Bush attempted to reform Fannie and Freddie and Social Security...which would have precluded both the financial meltdown and the current debt crisis. But he was blocked by Congress.
