On another note from the rioting, I saw an article "8 Reasons Young Americans Don't Fight Back", which is from the alternative media and clearly has an agenda (along with numerous problems I find in the article), but it brings up an interesting point. You don't especially see the youth of America taking part in the way they used to. Like I said about London, I simply can't imagine that happening here. Not to mention that a lot of the "educated" college students are more interested in getting drunk and buying the newest iPhone instead of dealing with matters like that. People can post something on Twitter and feel like they're making a difference, but they're not.
Stupid column. Why would we riot over social security?
"Ah, you miserable creatures! You who think that you are so great! You who judge humanity to be so small! You who wish to reform everything! Why don't you reform yourselves? That task would be sufficient enough."

I wouldn't mind actual nonviolent demonstrations though.
Neck tattoo says different.
Rodney King wasn't exactly a pillar, and people rioted over him.
At this point we don't know what happened, hence there's no excuse for rioting.
If it turns out he was a good Christian on his way to help orphans, and not a coke dealer packing a handgun who died in a shootout, then the Police will have questions to answer.

The places that are being looted are Mcdonalds, Electrical stores and sports shops. Oh and Blackberry messenger is being blamed for allowing people to talk to each other and "organise"
Its not confirmed at all at this point, no announcement has been made, we will see.Uzique wrote:

I guess when you're shooting at someone in a car ricochets happen.
Of course, someone with an illegal firearm would blanche at buying illegal ammunition....why a small time drug dealer would have hollow point rounds... sounds like police-on-police incident to me.
Police use of hollow-points is legally marginal, I had some correspondence with the Home Office somewhere on that.
Basically the Police have decided they are allowed to break the law.

Iran Calls on Britain to Avoid Violence against Protesters
TEHRAN (FNA)- Tehran on Tuesday called on London to avoid violent confrontation against protesters as unrests continued in Britain over the killing of a young man in London.

here's the thing: i'm giving him the benefit of the doubt - innocent until proven guilty.
you're assuming he got into a shootout because a) he's black b) he has tattoo's and c) he's a drug dealer.
even if you're right in the end, you assumed for the wrong reasons.

seems the person that doesn't judge someone because a) they're black b) they have tattoos and c) they deal drugs is the one that is right.
what a surprise!
the funny thing is that if this exact same story happened in america you would have a 5 page argument with a yankie about police brutality.
fuck you, dilbert.

Well it's pretty hypocritical for us to intercede in a civil war in Libya while at the same time rubbing our cocks over the idea of sovereignty. Or tell them how they should deal with their protesters half way across the world when it suits us.
So it works both ways...
So it works both ways...

Eh? I was referring to the fact that Iran was telling the UK not to touch the rioters, after they cracked down on protesters so violently not too long ago.Macbeth wrote:

I'm talking about how people find it 'ironic' that Iran is mouthing off during the U.K. riots but think it's SOP for their governments to sling shit during any other international event.
'oh how ironic, they are acting like us'

Last time I checked, the US didn't violently disperse protest crowds and then tell other countries not to do the same thing. But I didn't watch the news tonight, so I might have missed some late-breaking developments...or some re-written history books. Or something.Macbeth wrote:
