Hey guys I just got a thinkpad edge 13 on AMD platform (K685 cpu) and have installed Win7 ultimate x64 and there is no wifi icon in the taskbar. IN device manager there is a device called "realtek pcie gbe family controller" but its working fine and I don't know if this is the card for wired or also wireless lan. Could this be a win x64 issue as this is the first time I installed a 64 bit OS. This is the lenovo support site: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. … MIGR-74581

I have installed "ThinkPad 802.11bgn Wireless LAN Mini PCI Express Adapter II" but it doesn't work

thanks for any help

gbe = gigabit ethernet.

Plug it in and let Device Manager try updating the driver online. Vista/7 does awesomely well at finding drivers these days.

Barring that, try the other drivers from Lenovo. Let Device Manager try to install it from the extracted folder versus running the install.

Thanks for your response Cheez. The OS was unable to find any drivers and the wifi card had no information so I opened up the notebook and looked for info. I had to use magnifier glass because the letters were so small. After that it was easy to find driver for my model.
Thanks again Cheez
