Just putting this out there again. Anybody up for having some generic threads in this section that cover the endless go nowhere arguments that pop up everywhere?
IE.
Islamaphobia!
Abortions Woohoo!
Guns-r-gud, Guns-r-bad
Isreal ftw!

I think this is a good idea because it may help stop giant splodges of stupid from spraying all over the forums or at least lessen the frequency that it happens.

I think kmar has been doing this by editing thread titles and making them more generic.

exactly, lump it all together so that it can't clutter up other threads.

Edit: oh has he jay? didn't know that, I just thought it would be good to have a few [Official] ThisThreadGoesNowhere threads.

Nah, they don't need to have [Official] in the title

But like two weeks ago he merged all the Libya threads into one and renamed it "The Crisis in Libya" or something. He's on it.

solution: make one thread for all overplayed topics.

we had one for israel/palestine but i think it was either closed or died out. should have been stickied.

need one for abortion/gun rights/islam/economics etc. the mods who are active in this section(except kmar) usually close threads like those when they go on for many, many pages only for the argument to carry on in another thread a week later...

I know the threads are stupid, but if you could direct people who are derailing other threads to those topics, It would probably result in some better, more on track, debates.

To be honest, the only time I see you post in DST, Nic, is to either bitch and complain about DST or steer the thread into oblivion with lowing. Hell most of the 'DST sux' crowd doesn't even attempt to put anything semi-meaningful into the section but just comes in to flame someone or make comments about how "DST r retarded EE chat 4 lyfe".
