Thinking about getting a headset.
I would prefer the microphone to be of a higher quality, as I'm most likely going to be doing some streaming during the summer.
Preferably orderable from a Canadian site such as Newegg or TigerDirect.
No real restrictive budget, but since I don't get a spam of $500 headsets let's say keep it around $100CAD.

To get the ball rolling was looking at this:

or if you want to splurge

Actually the better ones are $100 off right now, would love these:

Also don't bother with TigerDirect in Canada, they rape you.

For gaming I would def go the sonys, for music something that isn't surround. But unless your Uzique, sup, or freezer, surround will prob be good enough for music too.

I had a set, and I sold them to someone else after about 1 trial wearing session.

The cups were too small, pressed on my ears, and thus caused discomfort and a headache.

That said, I have a large head and, apparently, massive ears. I usually can't stand Sennheiser cans because they also have the same "ear smash" effect on me.

However, the quality of sound and microphone was great. They were also incredibly light, and for the few minutes where they sat in *just* the right position for me (no ear smash), it wasn't like wearing headphones at all.

....what did you replace them with?

And I think that the one common complaint I hear about every Razer product (except for maybe saying they're overpriced...) is that they seem to be sized for a 12 year old...

Sound quality is VERY good for the price (especially when you foam mod them). I can wear them all day without even noticing them; directional sound for games and movies is really accurate too. The audio nerds around here can also vouch for its quality for music.

I picked up this mic as an emergency replacement back in september. Thought it would be crap, but turned out to be exceptionally clear and sensitive... Only downside is that it pick up a lot of background noise because its a desktop mic.

PS: Im pretty sure the 555's are available on Newegg, too

So their good, but not one size fit all...ill try and borrow my buddy headset, its probably the best way for me to know if i have a huge head or not! Thanks for the input!

I got to try one of these at a music store:

Very nice, but with a 9600M GT laptop, I'm not quite at the point of buying another pair of headphones yet. It would be trial and error whether or not I could wear them for very long, though. The Razer Orca looks popular, if you don't mind wearing slime green on your head.

I noticed a couple casters have this one () and I've got a coupon for 10% off on the Steelseries site.

For gaming I have been very happy with the two Steelseries headsets I have owned. Very comfy and great mike quality. I liked my siberias better then my 7H's.

Personally I would get the Sennheiser 555s and a desktop mike though. Much nicer all round.

My G35 was pretty good for the month I could use it.

No Mac drivers.

At about the point I get a desktop mic, I'm going to put a cheap studio mic on a swivel-arm and bolt it to the wall. Desktop mics always get knocked over, bashed into, buried in shit and often have problems picking up audio.

I got a Siberia V2 which works great, but I don't have much to compare it to, asides from a $25 Logitech mic.
