This is an early review of a tablet PC. That's how i think of the Xoom.

You'll notice all the finger prints because this is a 10" touchscreen tablet. So far i've managed to add another alarm (i've no idea what the first alarm is for) and link my facebook, twitter, and dropbox apps. The nice thing is reading PDF files (lol, sounds like Micheal Jackson) because embedded pictures in PDF's show up in a glorious 1280x800 resolution. Reading text is nice too, because with a flick of two fingers you can zoom in or zoom out.

The keyboard was, well, key for me. i'm giving up my mouse (it does have a USB port) but i'm not above spending $60 to make text entries to my favorite apps easier. The keyboard is Bluetooth© enabled, and easy to pair with the tablet. Wifi is also easy, and my particular Xoom came with a data plan from Ve®izon, affording me 3Gs connectivity when i'm away from my access point ( upgradeable to 4Gs LTE when available).

720p, Flash enabled video playback
Android Honeycomb OS (and, can be a mobile hotspot for my Android 2.2 phone)
Portable, expandable, workable information gathering/sharing device

Turn the flash off.. no fingerprints ..lol.
Internet tether? If so pdanet should work.

the app i was thinking of was for Apple - it would tether a camera and control all the aspects of shooting a picture. even though i bought the Xoom without knowing the specific app was available, the android development community has been remarkably quick with making anything that would run on an ipad available for android.

the market place is huge for the phones, but honeycomb specific apps are a bit thin right now. i've seen a few dozen were added in the last 24 hours . . .

So is there a way to dump your photos on the xoom from your camera directly? That is the practical application for a photog and I tablet I would think.. for quick review in the field, before post.

it has both usb & hdmi. i don't have the mini-hdmi cable yet, and i'm going to need a different usb cable . . .

Too bad there isn't an app to get rid of fingerprints. Seriously, my DS Lite doesn't collect them that hardcore.

no, i had to buy a case for it.

being built on Android 3 (honeycomb) i've found apps are sparse, but every single Android app for 2.2 works. hell, i've used it to charge my phone already

i knew what you meant, but the dam thing is customizable. i'm looking at a carbon fiber 'case', that fits like Batman's body armor.

the OS is raw enough, that i will warn any but the casual user - buy an ipad, unless you are willing to root and install a custom ROM. that's when this thing shines . . .

I use a microfiber cloth on my touchscreens. Works nicely, washable, no chemicals.

i also like that any purchases i've made are persistent - they weather the upgrades, and wait for me to unlock them.
