talking about that keyboard? it's a typist's keyboard. i think gaming peripherals are a massive joke, too. LED lights piss me off.

Seems a bit too slick for a typists keybard, but I'm not very familiar with typist keyboards. It probably types like a dream though.

All those gaming peripherals are mainly big, shiny, black, maybe a little see-through part to see the wires/ventilators and lots of brightly (blue) colored LEDs. Apple might be overpriced, but so are 'hardcore' gaming accessories like Razer.

black is pretty much the best color for any accessory.

Edit: also, both of my razer products are quite quality. Better than the Saiitek and Logitech products, well some of the logitech products were on par with them.

I feel a bit like hypocrite with my black dell pc with blue LEDs all over and my black shiny monitor, also with blue LEDs.
But there's so little choice in look when you want a quality PC product

It's got gold-plated key switches? I like the sound of a good keyboard as much as the next man, but

btw, what do the different grades of Cherry MX mean, and which is better? That Das one has Cherry MX Brown, while my Razer Blackwidow Has Cherry MX blue.

Edit found some info here:
http://elitekeyboards.com/support.php
Would like to try the browns, apparently quieter than my blues.
This gaming keyboard has the blacks, which sound like they would be best for gaming.

love how the how gaming world is slowly cottoning on to this mechanical technology... which has been around for years... and replacing all their plastic fad bullshit with real solid construction. also love how some of the usual culprits are keeping their tacky branding and LED's and trying to charge £40 more than the keyboard is worth, still... jesus.

the steelseries ones do look pretty good, yeah.

I don't really understand your fascination with mechanical keyboards. Who wants some noisy thing clacking away at them? It's like a perverse hybrid between a typewriter and a regular keyboard.

Most functional keyboard I ever had was a plastic roll-up one that I could take anywhere with me, toss in the dishwasher if it got dirty, and never have to worry about it getting spilled on and destroyed. I believe it cost a whopping $19.95 too.

you're clearly not typing for 4-5 hours a day if you don't see the attraction of a mechanical keyboard

I used to play MUDs for 14 hours a day on a piece of shit throwaway keyboard. There's no real difference between keyboards besides macro buttons. You simply like it because you think it makes you unique to have a mechanical keyboard.

So my new semester is starting tomorrow. So I figure I might check out where I have to be. Turns out I have to go on a class trip on the weekend so I can get to know everyone. I've been at uni for like 6 years now and this school shit still isn't over. FML
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

I have. My dad was a computer programmer growing up so I've had exposure to pretty much everything from an 8088 up to modern crap. Mechanical keyboards break much more often than your modern throw away keyboards do. It's why they were replaced in the first place.

I guess now they're retro though hence the audience that desires them.

No, the standard for typists and office workers is whatever was cheapest when the office supply person signed the contract. No one types on mechanical keyboards except people who desire the eccentric label.

yeah! that's exactly it! i want a keyboard that's 'retro' so when i hang out in the east village with my poet friends, drinking frappucinos, i can plug an IBM mechanical keyboard (only refurbished 15 times but still totally sweet, check out the retro-faded detailing!) into my macbook and then tweet about how stuff in libya, like, totally sucks... but not as much as my old gaming keyboard did!

How do you break a keyboard? Of all the computers my family have had and the ones I've owned, the keyboards last longer than pretty much any other component.
