I am talking about Japan. Unlike any other "civilized" nation facing this sort of thing, (if any other nation faced this sort of thing before), the Japanese have carried themselves with dignity honor and respect for each other. New Orleans is the closest thing to it, and their actions were a disgrace to our nation as a whole. I want to explore an explanation as to why Japan is so honorable, and one of cities of the leader of the free world acts like the pile shit they proved themselves to be, facing a hell of a lot less crisis.Stubbee wrote:
nah i think that debate is over.
now if you want to talk about japan without comparing to your favorite pet peeves, go for it.

How does a country begin the cleanup process of such a disaster? In Japan's case, I'd assume they would need to sort through the wreckage and "recycle" the metals, and throw the rest away? Then maybe uproot all the plumbing and electricity to start everything from scratch?
Whole villages have been wiped out. It's a good chance to start over and make improvements, from a city engineers point of view, no?
So move there gaijin if you envy them so much.lowing wrote:

All the Japanese people (Not just physically Japanese, but mentally) that I know are outstanding citizens. very honorable, family oriented, and polite.
If this happened in L.A. I could not imagine the sh!t that would be going down there right now.

ummm personal responsibility, individualism and me not being from rwanda are hardly the answers to the question.Shocking wrote:
We did this already. It's a cultural thing but you refuse to believe that, so I'll give you the answer you want;
You appease to the weak and don't punish criminals hard enough. New Orleans strayed from what it means to 'be American'.
Ok so you don't want to talk about the reasons New Orleans instinctively acted like a bunch of douche bags compared to the Japanese instinctively acting with dignity and honor?Stubbee wrote:
hey lets nuke new orleans
or revoke their citizenship (they are semi-french anyway)
or replace them with quake victims from japan
dude we get it. we agree some people from New Orleans are terrible people.
you have a really broad brush though and not just on this topic.
let

go
the pompoms are getting ragged
you want to talk about Katrina or New Orleans , revive the thread about it or create one.
This. The Japanese are extremely resilient.lowing wrote:

How about the notion that this is "American culture" compared to "Japanese culture"? Can you explain how this is only "American culture" in shit holes full of liberals like New Orleans or LA, or SF while not so much in the midwest towns nailed by tornadoes and floods, or Florida nailed by hurricanes? Keeping in mind that there is no reason to believe the Japanese behavior would not have been the same regardless of where the crisis hit?
Are these not observations worth discussing?
Lowing has a good point and you're dismissing it, Why?Stubbee wrote:

Leave politics/culture out of it. You really need to find an antidote to the Viagra you are on. You are supposed to seek medical attention if the hard-on lasts more than 4 hours and as far as I can remember your hard-on in regards to libs/dems has lasted at least 4 years.
