Hey guys,

When I first got this laptop, everything ran smoothly. I could play any game a 2.1GHz CPU could run and I could play online without any lag. These pasts couple of weeks my performance has been utter SHIT. I haven't installed anything I can think of that would effect this. From one day to the next I got really lousy performance and really slow internet. I tried using gamebooster to lighten the load on my CPU, and now with only 5% of the CPU being used it still takes a year to get a firefox window up. Then when I'm in youtube, facebook, bf2s, etc. takes forever to load up.

I've tried:

Defragmenting, anti-virus scan, shutting down unnecessary programs, and running gamebooster.

I'm sick of this performance. I used to be playing Battlefield Heroes just fine, now it's a gay frame rate and lag. Then I get on L4D 1&2 which never gave me problems and now I'm fine with frame rate but still doing lousy on lag.

So I plugged in my ethernet instead of using wi-fi and I get this in my network settings.

Linksys is our neighbor's wi-fi and I had wi-fi turned off so it couldn't connect. What - the - fuck?

I'll run a full system scan soon. Last time I did a boot system scan with avast I had 22 "Minor" threats. I haven't been downloading much lately. When I do download I always scan it first before. Weird...

I would never download porn. That's just asking for a virus.

I do use uTorrent for movies though But I scan them first, I would think that would catch them. Oh well...running a full system scan now. Will run a boot scan when I can waste a few hours. I tried one earlier and like I said, it found 22 threats @ 38% when I woke up in the morning. The gay AV wants confirmation despite me saying "DELETE ALL" for system files...

I have finished a full system scan and a specific file scan where all the threats were detecting last time. I found one more threat and I deleted it. So, I'll have to do a boot scan sometime and see if anything shows there.

If it's not a virus, what else could be slowing my computer down?

On a side note, I didn't get a Windows 7 CD, when I turned the computer on it just automatically started reinstalling. If I want to reformat and reinstall everything I would need to go into the BIOS and change the boot order to whatever the Windows 7 stuff is stored on and boot on that right?

I can't figure out what key is for the BIOS, stupid laptops. I'm unfamiliar with 'em. I learned the POST and all those things with computers.

This computer doesn't seem to have the screen with a "Press F8, DEL, or w/e; for BIOS." Instead it starts with a VAIO screen and immediately goes to "loading windows."

I want to reformat anyway, and I don't have a Windows 7 disk, the PC just installed Windows 7 when I turned it on the first time. I'm going to do some googling but if anybody can help me out it's well appreciated. I just want to reformat!
