The 4-story compound in downtown Tripoli that was home to Libyan leader Muammar al-Qaddafi was demolished by missile attacks, according to reporters near the area.

There was no known injuries at it remains unclear where the leader has been living since the no-fly zone was ordered.

There were two circular holes in the roof, which is consistent with a missile strike, and rubble littered the street. It remains unclear when the strike occurred, reported Fox News’ Steve Harrigan.

Pentagon official had previously said Sunday that the coalition “will not be going after Qaddafi.”

UK Defence Secretary Liam Fox said it was "a possibility" that Col Gaddafi himself could be targeted in the military operations.

US defence spokesman Vice Adm William Gortney told a press briefing: "We are not going after Gaddafi. At this particular point I can guarantee he is not on the target list."

I'm wondering who the coalition forces air component commander is for this one. Or really, what the overall C2 structure is...they approve the target list.

So now we're in the business of assassinating world leaders because we disagree with them? Groovy.

We've been in that business for about a century, actually.

Our first "testing grounds" were in Central and South America.

To be fair though, plenty of other world powers have done their share of it too, like the Soviets.

Oh, I thought liberals were supposed to be above that sort of thing seeing as how they've spent the last eight years protesting the Iraq invasion. Hypocrites the lot of them.

Well yeah...  When it comes to war, it's a partisan issue through and through.  Whichever party controls the presidency tends to be pro-war, while the opposition tends to be anti-war.

It's pretty dysfunctional.

The good news is that we'll soon be too bankrupt to attack anyone in about 20 to 30 years.

Countries like China will be doing that instead.

Dems were pretty supportive for Iraq Invasion. They just weren't supportive of the occupation.

That was Reagan. Ford proposed something similar, prior to him. .. but Bush Jr relaxed the language quite a bit.

Britain steps up Libya no-fly zone mission
https://i.imgur.com/zcNYF.jpg

Meanwhile, amid a third night of missile strikes, a government motion to support action in Libya won a majority of 544 votes in the House of Commons.

The debate focused on Resolution 1973, which passed by the United Nations Security Council last week.

This authorises "all necessary measures", short of bringing in an occupying force, to protect Libyan citizens from the Gaddafi regime, which has been fighting rebel forces.

The Commons motion - which was backed by 557 MPs and opposed by 13 - followed continued US-led action in Libya, with Libyan leader Colonel Muammar Gaddafi's sprawling Bab al-Aziziya complex, in the capital Tripoli, among the locations hit.

Mechanical problem it seems, as opposed to enemy fire.
