there are international laws related to intellectual property and copyrights. It works differently depending on the offending material and nation, but to say that it (digital piracy) would only break American law is, well, stupid.

RIAA and MPAA have irreparably damaged their reputations by doing silly shit like suing the socks off of little kids and old people.
