Apart from that I think the theory that Trump does whatever the last person he spoke to said to do is a valid one.

Something mentioned at about 26 minutes into the video is the anti-globalization protest of the early 2000s. I remember reading a International Political Economy textbook in the 2010s that had a picture of these protest with some black kids smashing windows in Seattle.
Conservatives at the time blasted the protest/rioters as losers while further supporting the free trade. 26 years later and now conservatives are enemies of free trade and Starbucks.
2003 we had international protest against the Iraq War. Colleges students were the first and loudest to oppose the war. They were shouted down as traitors.

i'm kind of waiting with dread for the actual effects of this hormuz closure to hit the global economy. right now it seems oil futures are practicing Dark Arts to keep the market alive, based mostly on hope/copium. but at some point a clear -20% to the global oil supply is going to cause some major shocks, right?
