The Jewish people aren't living in peace because they are demolishing Palestinian homes and then wondering why a few extremists who have lost family members lob some home made rockets at them.

Without US support he would have been ousted decades ago.

If you actually read what I've written you'll see I've said its in everyone's interests to have a negotiated solution based on the 1967 borders.
This is the best all-round compromise and accepted by pretty well everyone in the region including the bulk of the Israeli population.

Or they can continue as they are and risk annihilation, the choice is theirs.

The brits were charged with keeping the arab / israeli populations from kicking eachothers teeth in and they simply walked off.

Their mandate expired and was not renewed leaving them no power to do anything - somewhat different.

Well yes... except for the details of it's realisation.

I still feel a seperate palestinian state would be doomed for failure. The actual best solution would be to simply fuse the two states.
