I'll be blunt because you don't seem to get it. Playing as any other class would be more useful than playing as a sniper.-Sh1fty- wrote:
Well NooBest, not every sniper is a useless moron. Whenever I played as a sniper in BC2 I would be extremely helpful for the team. If they're attacking an M-Com I would assist them with long range fire support. I would neutralize defenders, and M-Com defusers. Not to mention you can drop mortars on the cover the enemy is using to defend M-Coms from.
Whenever I played as a sniper, it was always for the benefit of the team, and not myself.
However, engineers are the most useful M-Com attackers in the game. Most stations can easily be destroyed with RPGs, extra RPG ammo and extra RPG damage perks. Thanks to the RPG-7s, you can easily use the gradients on the scope to hit the M-Com with every shot from far behind cover. Not to mention fire-and-forget saves your life a lot.
I have won so many games for my team doing that.

Aint nuffin like sneaking to a secluded spot and killing/harassing the other team. Or hanging behind your squad providing support like a designated marksman.

Most of Shifty's points are pretty good tbh.
The main things I like about BFBC2 are destructible environments, the ability to customize which add-ons you have for guns (that could be expanded just a bit...silencers perhaps...), and the land/sea vehicle handling actually feels pretty good.
Similar to BF2, I would prefer larger-scale, non-linear map design, air vehicles that feel more maneuverable, and more emphasis on conquest-style gameplay...that just feels more "Battlefield" to me.
I really hope that the stuff included in Special Forces makes its way into BF3 (nightvision for night maps that are actually dark, ziplines and grappling hooks, etc.)
I'm not sure about how that would be balanced in, but I think it would be cool if the game kept the 4 kit layout, but included enough gear to essentially make 2 completely different styles for each kind of kit:
Assault: Either a firepower-heavy kit ala BFBC2, with resupply capability and the heaviest armor in the game; or perhaps an assault kit layout that focuses on rapid mobility, with a grapple setup, etc, as in Special Forces, with medium armor but the same weapon selection, etc...also, both assault kit layouts should have flashbangs available.
Engineer: Explosive firepower-centered to focus on directly removing enemy armor in a quick manner, with limited repair abilities; or more defensively-oriented and have enhanced repairing abilities (for the vehicle whores), and make weapon emplacements that you're using slightly stronger (10-20 percent maybe). Medium armor for both.
Medic: A better healer, with medic packs and a defib kit and also a "painkiller" shot that adds an instant 50 health, but recharges 2 or 3 times slower than the defib., with maybe an SMG or shotgun; or a more limited healer, with only medic packs and the painkiller shot, but include a limited array of assault/battle rifles to their weapon selection (more like the BF2 medic, but without the revive-spam). Medium armor for both.
Recon: Your classic lame-ass sniper, complete with laser-designated targeting device, several (destructible!) claymores ::shudder::, and the lightest armor in the game (in the form of a ghillie suit); or a layout more akin to the Spec-Ops kit, with C4, access to every gun (!), a single claymore, a grapple, access to flashbangs, and also light armor (but not a ghillie suit)....basically, a true jack-of-all-trades kit.
What I want:
Recon: fastest kit in the game, carries light weapons (SMG, shotty, carbine), sabotage kits (like incendiary grenades in AIX), very light armor, NOT A LOT OF AMMO. (Sabotage/spotting specializations), flashbangs
Assault: Heavy all purpose kit, Grenade Launchers, Assault Rifles, Machine Guns, and lots of grenades, etc. Your standard infantry killing machine.
(Grenade Launcher/Machine gunner specializations), smoke
Sapper: Your engineer class, carries light weapons, mines (AP bouncing betty type, and AT), explosives (liek C4) and defusing tools. Medium armor (minig/demolitions specializations), HE grenade (not frag, more explosive)
Sniper: Sniper rifle, and designator for guided missiles from player-piloted jets. Light armor. 1 claymoar. (Sniper and DM specializations for this class, DM has more armor but less zoom scopes, etc.), no grenades
Support: Assault rifle, medikits, etc. Can also carry ammo packs (2142 system, Healing and resupply specializations for this class), decoy grenade (ala black ops, OMFG)
Anti-vehicle: Rocket launchers and Guided missile launchers. Only a pistol/machine pistol for self-defense. (Guided Missile/Unguided specs), can throw rockets at enemy
Also any attachment/any gun... just give lens glare to scopes to make them more spottable to balance.

You might want it, but there are purportedly 4 classes so you're not going to get it.
Doesn't stop people from wanting it.
True. I want a magic carpet and a car with a snorkel.
I want 2142 style unlock trees

@ RPG and M-Com debate
I haven't played the game since June of '10. I'm sure many things have changed, and most likely for the worse as with every game that gets patched. Grenade launchers used to be useful, certain weapons were nerfed when they didn't need it.
I mean F**K, most games only need bug fixes in patches but most retarded companies change the gameplay. I hate it! Those fucking communists want all the weapons to be balanced. It's boring if all the weapons were the same and some weren't OP.
And above your tomb, the stars will belong to us.
The last patch was great actually.
So you're saying you haven't played the game in 9 months, and then go on to tell us who still play the game what the current patches are like.-Sh1fty- wrote:

-Sh1fty- just wants his games to be as realistic as possible because he wants to be the Army-Man, however the Real Army would not let him in because he's shit at everything, so he wants to play realistic games (like airsoft) so that he can "accurately simulate a real-war scenario."
Ding ding ding, two more people get nominated for the scumbag award.
How do I want it realistic Dr. S? I mean, you obviously know every fucking thing in the world so maybe you could enlighten us less important people.
Jeakus, I assume the game hadn't changed much. I'm unaware of any of the patches since June. You don't have to be a dick about me trying to give advice.

Not that part. The part about attacking M-Coms with 8 rockets and me not knowing it takes more because it was patched. It was advice to attack the M-Coms, and you shun me for not playing the game for 9 months.
Instead of being such a cunt you could simply say something kinder. How about, "Well, the game was patched since June and it takes more rounds now" instead of:

Sorry, you're just too much of an easy target sometimes. Dunno, it's just the way you post things, and the fact you can't seem to take things very well. I too like to consider myself to be an above average BC2 player a fair bit of the time, but I wouldn't make some outrageous claim like "I win heaps of games for my team", unless of course I'm referring to squad deathmatch when I have had some nights getting 25-35 kills for my squad to win round after round. Point is, if your team wasn't there, you wouldn't be sitting on a hill spamming your rockets, you'd have your arse handed to you on a plate. So maybe if you had said "I've taken out heaps of m-com stations for my team and we won a lot of times as a result" would be more accurate.
Anyway, refer to this: http://forums.bf2s.com/viewtopic.php?pi … 5#p3455425

Thank you for being more civil.
Now, when I last played the M-Coms only needed 8 hits to destroy them. I think this was very good number. I seldom recall any team member taking up rockets and attacking in this method. I cannot understand why this was patched out, it wasn't an issue.
Can anybody try firing 8 rockets at it just to be sure? I cannot fathom why they would want to increase it from 8 to 23.

Because Dice likes to make unnecessary changes
The irony of guns, is that they can save lives.
And it was too easy for tank drivers to win a round by themselves and assault & recon would put C4 on the mcom rather than planting a bomb...
DICE wanted the two above reduced/removed
DICE wanted the two above reduced/removed
Your thoughts, insights, and musings on this matter intrigue me
