the "i play this game for fun" crowd were always the worst.

If the women don't find ya handsome. They should at least find ya handy.
I'm with Floppy. I rather have the quick progression coupled with lots of points incentivizing teamwork than have the long progression towards unlocks and other shit I couldn't care any less about.
if you couldn't care less about it then why would it bother you, anyway?
floppy "games are about playing them". yes, so? you can play 1/2 the kits for the first 100 hours of gameplay. what's so bad?

Why have "unlocks" at all then?FloppY_ wrote:

An XP system, ranks and rewards is just like everything else in the world. It's good in moderation!
BF2 had awards and ribbons that didn't give you any points. I liked that because it was more of a personal goal than feeling obligated to complete for XP to rank up faster.
Then there's games like CoD and now the newer Battlefields where you rank up very quickly. I like when it's a slow process and you really need to earn the rank, again without XP boosts. I guess my issue is that I think the rank should be earned and not just given to you so easily.
I see your point though.
Especially when you factor in that weapons took forever to unlock, I have yet to try two of them since I haven't unlocked the P90 or MP7...
And BF2 awarded kills where BC2 awards (and thereby encourages) teamwork (That's the point of all those XP awards and Badges you muppet) and it's not a "cod" thing either..
You also can't have enjoyed BF very much if you couldn't get 50k points.
so you're saying that not being given all the weapons straightaway somehow detrimentally affects teamwork and the possibility of cooperation?Macbeth wrote:

what a load of shit. if anything, people are encouraged to get more teamwork points each round - you level up quicker towards the locked weps.

Seriously... that's the point of unlocks... you gotta work toward them. Shit let's just hand out all the weapons as soon as you create the account. While we're at it let's just give everyone all the medals and make everyone a four star general.
I didn't say that.Uzique wrote:

I just find the BC2 way of dealing out points to be better than the BF2 way. You were rewarded better for doing things like reparing, dealing out ammo, and healing people than you were in BF2.
And as far as unlocks go you could get most of them in a very short time in BF2...
Only after they changed the ranking requirements.
IIRC private first class was 5k and for second Lieutenant (the highest rank at the time) was 200k on release.

why the hell not? i paid for the entire game...let me play itHurricane2k9 wrote:

working towards something and achieving a goal IS fun. if you don't want to do any work, do you want dice to sell the game with an aimbot, esp, and a bunch of other shit that will make your life easier so that you can 'play the game'?FloppY_ wrote:

Games shouldn't be stretched by a "you can't have this yet" policy.. they should be stretched by quality and good post-release support tbh...
i think it's the complete opposite of 'fun' to be given everything for zero-effort/skill; it's bland, boring and short-lived.
stupid stupid stupid consumer attitude. the stupidest fucking attitude a gamer could have. a game is not a movie; it's a GAME. go look up the dictionary definition of the word - it's something you have to PLAY that normally presents a modicum of CHALLENGE, or at least applies a RULESET, to the user.11 Bravo wrote:

"i paid for team fortress 2 so i want to be able to play every class well and kill everyone, because i mean i own every class! why should that guy be better off than me or have an advantage when we both paid the same price!"
"i paid for all of bf2 so i should be able to get in a tank or a jet whenever i want - why the hell are there only 2 on this map? for 30 people they cannot have access to the entire game that they PAID for whilst 2 lucky ones get way more! WTF! i'm writing a letter of complaint!"
fuck off

Cos it gives you something to work toward. Maybe it's just me but BF2 had a lot longer playing life for me partly because I wanted to get all the unlocks. Whereas I got bored of all the CoD games in less than a year... even if I hadn't unlocked everything, it was just so easy that it lost its fun. "Oh boy, level up, new weapon!" few hours later "Oh boy, level up, new weapon!"11 Bravo wrote:

I just want a ranking and unlock system around the lenght of 2142 or BC2 tbhHaiBai wrote:

If your playing a game for the unlocks then your playing it for the wrong reasons.

Everything was "unlocked" in BFV.
how about you buy weapons instead of unlock. Save up credits and then pick the weapon you want, if done right it could be just as fun.
The irony of guns, is that they can save lives.
what does that have to do with a 50 cal sniper rifle? i still have to shoot the other person and not get shot myself, yes?Uzique wrote:

BLOPs. Also, I would like to point out that at this point, there is more teamwork in a round of BLOPs TDM than in a BC2 rush round. Fucking sniper whores.War Man wrote:
