What did you all think?

I didn't catch it till about 15 minutes before the end but I think Obama came off as strong (in a good way of course) and faithful that America can steer itself to its true greatness.

This is why I never watch them. Mind numbing is an understatement.

I literally was thinking the exact same thing. One time Biden started clapping by himself.

I liked it, considering my downward trend of my liking of Obama. I think he highlighted a main issue that's been talked about many times - working "together", but I loved his focus on innovation. That's the kind of progressive thinking we need.

Like watching paint dry. Is she still bloated? Last time I saw her it looked like she was well on her way to The Biggest Loser.

i saw an interview with McCain, of all people, saying how the state of the union was like "doing jumping jacks" all night and he said it was just as bad the previous eight years as the last two.

I think it was last year that Pelosi looked like an insane jack-in-the-box...constantly popping up!  I don't see why congress has to make the speech a circle-jerk by applauding every statement the man makes!

Lots of rhetoric, not much substance, IMO.

Helping out research, infrastructure, and education could be a very good thing, IMO, but nobody ever wants to say how they intend to pay for things.  No one wants to touch the structural debt caused by social security and medicare.

Yeah right, love how Obama wants to "work together", now that he lost the House and faces losing his job in 2 years.. Translation, "lets talk before I get kicked the fuck out of office."

What  I love more is how you Obamamaniacs are dying to find a reason to fall for his bullshit a second time.

He's always tried to stay somewhat centrist.

And the chances of him getting re-elected are pretty fucking high considering the shit candidates the Republicans seem to be offering at this point.

The discombobulated felling of this was the result of co-mixed seating.  The pep rally/sides portion was removed.  It was choppy.  I really couldn't take him seriously as he's now in campaign mode -so that made his whole move to the center phony (not that I believed him to begin with).  It was comical that he wants to freeze spending... At record levels.  Lack of NASA talk bothered me also.  He mocked the TSA policy (one he enacted) and announced a pull out date for troops.  The state of his ego remains strong.

Good job answering the post, Lowing.
What answer were you looking for? You didn't ask me anything.

But if you are looking for an answer here it is: There has been no greater govt. growth and involvement in personal lives and private enterprise in the history of our nation than now. With govt. stimulus and forced govt health care etc...
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/co … 00153.html so no I do not agree with your assessment that our president is centralist.

There is literally nothing in that link or in your comment that could dissuade belief that he's tried to remain a centrist. Not to mention the fact that you still insist on calling it "govt health care" when it's been proven time and time again that the health care reform bill is NOT gov't run healthcare. Not that I'd expect you to know the difference.

Ken was completely spot on in his diagnosis of your arguments. You fail to answer things and you attribute arguments to people and then try to argue them. It's really funny.

What you're failing to understand is that it's a matter of perspective. If you think he's a centrist then you are either further left than he is or you believe he matches your own ideals and that you yourself are in the center. For someone that leans right, he would not appear centrist. Considering you thought Cuomo was a centrist, it's quite apparent that you... well... I'll be nice and say you don't have a lot of experience when it comes to politics or political thought.

What he says and does are two completely different things also.  I can say I'm the Queen of England all day long, but that doesn't make it so.

Ah yes, here comes JohnG@lt, queen of all things politics. I never said Cuomo was a centrist, and if I did, it was simply that he was more centrist than the other hardcore lefties in NY. My post to lowing was that he was ATTEMPTING to work with the right. And considering the tax cut deal that just went through, I'd say that he does. Lowing and others just want to look for any possible argument to make Obama look bad. If you'll notice I also said "somewhat" centrist. I didn't say he IS a centrist.

I got to admit I thought obama's speech was pretty vanilla, Lets face it, in his defence, they all are. I don't know why I expected more. It just seems like he is happy to be batting .155 as long as he doesn't get sent down. I never liked or trusted the Guy, but I thought he wanted to be great and remembered. If you knew anything about the Eras or topics he brushed on, it didn't even make sense.  It doesn't seem like he even cares or knows what he is reading. Like the speech were he said " The Constitution says - All men are Created equal ! "
