Sorry, I was reading Wikipedia wrong - I just counted the number of examples and missed the bit where they have the totals. A more sensible figure is about 1000 since 1977 (figures from various sources vary, but all are high - actual bombings, around 40 - 100). In both cases, most people who push for religion in politics aren't terrorists or terror sympathizers, but they do often hold extreme stances on political issues. That's where I see the similarities between the two. Likewise, a greater involvement of both Christianity and Islam in politics tends to lead towards the restriction of personal freedoms.
