So I've been going to bed at 2AM for the past four weeks or so, which is OK since I've been on break. However, next semester I have classes at 8AM and need to wake up around 6:30AM. I obviously can't keep going to bed at 2 since I'd be running on very little sleep.

I also can't just start going to bed at 11. I'm too energized. I've tried going to bed a little earlier each night but that doesn't really help.

So BF2s, what do I do to reset my internal clock?

The obvious solution really, is to not go to bed at 2AM and stay awake until 11pm that next night.

That way you'll definitely be sleepy at 11pm.

Nothing could posibily go wrong with that. if you have trouble staying awake until the 11pm time, fap outrageously.

just set your alarm for like 8:00 no matter what time you go to bed tonight and force yourself to get up in the morning. then just stay up until 10:30-11 and go to bed

Set your alarm 1 hour earlier each day, and don't drink any caffeine after noon.  You should be fine in about a week.

What you do is go to bed one-two hours later each night until you reach your desired goal.  Yeah, that means becoming a vampire for a week, but it's better than being a zombie on 3 hours of sleep over the same time period and feeling like shit the entire time.  Trust me, setting it early does fuck all because you just spend that extra hour lieing on your ass awake and you fall asleep at the same time anyways.  Doing it all at once only makes it worse, spending 18 hours in bed only fucks up your schedule worse.  Of course, if your semester begins in less than two weeks you're a dumb faggot for leaving the help me thread until this time.

Just buy a shitload of those pills, work like a dream. Whenever I have to get up early again, just take these 2 hours before the time you want to go to sleep and BAM!.

They also work if you have troubles with falling asleep in the first place, which was my problem.

I'm in a similar situation. I work in the evenings and as I finish work at 10pm I generally stay up a few hours - case in point it's 2:30am at the moment. But I'll be back at Uni this year and need to get into normal sleep patterns. Best thing to do is just be persistent. Get up in the morning instead of sleeping in and get to bed early. First few times you may be awake until 2am anyway but that's just the way these things go. You may get a bit sleep deprived, eventually your body should react by putting you immediately into REM sleep, (instead of just giving you the usual two hours you get in a normal 8 hour sleep.) You'll get two to three nights worth of REM sleep all in one and wake up feeling refreshed. By this stage, as long as you don't sleep in, you should be able to fit into normal sleep patterns again.

Sunday nights are the worse for me, though able to recover by Tuesday night. What really messes up my internal clock is Day-Light Savings.

I'm in the same boat. I even took a sleeping pill at 9pm on wednesday night in the hope I would be sleepy by 10pm and sleep through till my alarm at 6:30am.

It didn't work. I woke up not even two hours later (11:30pm) and couldn't sleep till 3am. Then hit snooze for 45 minutes and got up at 7:15.

Last night was even worse. I went to bed at 4:30am and despite waking up a few times (I even set an alarm 3 times) I still didn't manage to get up till 2:45pm. I haven't done that in YEARS.

Tonight I'm just going to pull an all-nighter, suck it up tomorrow (only have band prac and then bowling with friends) and hopefully get an earlier one tomorrow night and reset my body clock that way.

It's worked in the past and it'll work again (I hope).
