Here they spend money to create dependency thus solidifying their power base.
Australian Greens are more like Marxists if you actually read their manifesto.

So are American Greens.Dilbert_X wrote:

Then what term would you use to describe French society? Looks pretty damn socialist to me...Uzique wrote:

i love how anything lefter than dead-centre for americans is HOLY SHIT! COMMUNISM!
and no, oug... i'm taking a unit this term on american philosophy and self-identity in literature and thought, and some of the big names of the 20th century are the likes of rorty and delbanco. of course they build on dewey, james, whitman, emerson, thoreau etc. but that's just the nature of political science and philosophy, isn't it? it's all referential and historical.

Yeah, Marxism is related to but still quite different from socialism.JohnG@lt wrote:

Then again, Communism as practiced by the USSR and China is quite different from what Marx proposed.
The closest thing to true Marxism that has actually been practiced is anarcho-syndicalism.
Marx was actually more of a left wing anarchist than what we typically think of regarding Communists.
communism was never - could never - be practiced by anybody. communism is an utopia - a pefect system unachievable by definition. what was practiced by ussr was communism in name only - it'sa about time you realised that, people.Turquoise wrote:

if you open your mind too much your brain will fall out.
Well yeah... Communism was the abolition of the state. A Communist state is a contradiction in terms, technically. Granted, that is the more commonly recognized political system when referring to Communism colloquially.Shahter wrote:

You cant talk about politics in America now without the subject veering into Communism and socialism.
