you might need to look up the definition of conservatism and liberalism in Australia. They have completely different meanings than Europe and NA do.
Sort of... The Liberal Party of Australia is somewhat libertarian and would be considered the main conservative party of Australia. For obvious reasons, this terminology can be somewhat confusing for outsiders. They share many of the economic views of Republicans here while sharing many of the social views of Democrats. In this respect, they are classical liberals.
The Australian Labor Party is the main party in Australia that can be analogized with liberalism in America. However, this party is much more in favor of government control of media than most Democrats here. In this respect, they can be seen as economically liberal but somewhat socially conservative. This would make them populists overall.
So, to correct what I said earlier, I'd probably be a moderate member of the Liberal Party of Australia if I lived there, although I also find much in common with the Australian Greens.
