E: Obviously it breaks the ceasefire agreement... but since both countries are still in a state of war...

Yeah it's legal. Korean war isn't over yet.

Not exactly strong words. But they certainly aren't trying to defend the action.

Cybarg, China has been pissed at NK plenty in the past. Particularly with its border. They still come to their side. Its an alliance.

I guess it depends more on who'll fire the first shot... Doubt china would be active in the war, but will just give support in supplies. China's a lot less aggressive when it comes to the defence of NK now... Hopefully this shit would blow over.

I would like to say that I'm incredibly impressed at how cool South Korea is being about this.

At a guess I'd say Kim Jong-Il knows his time is short, (with recent poor health and the naming of an heir,) and wants to see a return to war before he goes. However it takes two to tango and South Korea isn't indulging the little fuck to the extent he wants. So far. Definite kudos for that.

Got to say though, China needs to start bringing their stroppy six year-old into line. I know that North Korea is a fellow communist and an ally but China's a global citizen and it knows its place in the world.

I'd say China will bide it's time and see what eventuates.

I wouldn't be surprised if Kim Jong-Il's heir apparent becomes a puppet to China before too long tbh. He's been in his fathers shadow too long.

This to me looks like an excercise to make son #1 look good on the world stage - and nobody believes it.

lol yeah south korea is a puppet state of the US k lol.

US is already on china's naval borders (Japan, SK, Phillipines, Singapore, Malaysia etc).

Us already has bases in South Korea, if a war broke out between the two koreas, and lets say South Korea won, then China would have US military bases right next to them, they don't want that.
Since China has already naval borders with US.

eh... you do realize the only reason there are US military bases in SK is because of NK threat right? Japan: US won WW2 and now it's role is to help Japanese defence. Philippines: former US colony.

I doubt china would care that much about US bases in NK. The US is already a cunts hair away.

I think its more of US's interest to have bases around.
I think Japan has the resources and money to maintain they own defense now.
Its the same reason the US has multiple bases in Italy.

2) Under their constitution they are only allowed to have a defensive military... Which means almost 0 naval strike capabilities and no nuclear weapons capabilities. They need the US for various reasons.
3) NATO NATO NATO, that is why US has bases in Italy and it was to defend against communism during the cold war.

US doesn't really need to have bases abroad... That's what they got the Marines for
