Its the parents fault tbh. I have a 3 yr old & a 16 month old both have been on long haul flights & both behaved. Most parents forget about the pressure issues on the ear I gave both of my kids lollies to suck so that would help the ears pop & equalise. The rest of the time you just have to amuse them with drawing & DVD's. Parents have to remember that kids get bored easily & you have to impress on the child the importance of behaving with a reward at the end of the flight or the threat of a good smack aside the ear if they don't.
Ok, but the big issue people have is that they don't want to hear your damn conversation. It's not just about crying, it's the constant chatter coming out of your direction that is annoying. I'm not saying it should be a library, but it should be damn near to that. It's courtesy, especially in such close quarters.
Well, then those people should get their own private jet.
Blaming children for being children is really low IMO. We all were kids once and behaved in such a way.
Such demands remind me of people denying mothers to breast-feed their babies in public, whenever and wherever the infant gets hungry.
It's simply how nature is, babies want their breast, children get bored fast and can be noisy.
Unless you're going to spend a lot of money on infrastructure to provide separate room for annoyed people, something like that is just a ridiculous demand.
And airlines certainly don't have that extra money.
Also, I rather have children than some weirdos with no social skills, who just don't realize when someone doesn't want to talk, or even listen to their constant blathering.
