I have a decent amount of savings in a BoA savings account. It garners a whopping .01% interest (yes, .01%, not 1%).

There's some money market accounts out there that are in the 4.5-5% range, 450x better than I'm currently getting to have my money sit there. Unfortunately they're all with tiny banks that feel like they could be the next SVB. Does anybody have experience with small banks for using them for money market, high-yield savings, or even CD accounts?

So as long as a bank is FDIC insured, you're golden tbh.

So much for the big moral panic over kids being marketed to.

Charging any kind of money for water at a school is the tip of the iceberg in terms of comic book levels of corporate villainy going on right now.

Waiting to hear about a kid bringing in unapproved-brand water, trading for a water, or another kid buying them a water, only for staff to confiscate it and dump it down the drain in front of all the other students. I wouldn't even blink at the headline at this point.

People already are. Air cleaning isn't a public service. You buy a unit, pay to replace the filters, pay for the power to run it, and endure sniping about how you're ruining the environment while companies burn through watts they don't even need, and emit copious amounts of garbage into the environment behind the backs of the lecturers.

The world is in my hands. I must save the environment by carefully peeling the labels off my plastic recyclables, and brush my teeth with with tea tree oil (don't actually do that).

Lets just stop worrying about what Republicans are angry about.

Oil is going up nicely, my Woodside dividends pay my fuel bill and the capital gains are my profit.

Also my tax bill is lower than my wild guesstimate based on no data or calculations.
Time to celebrate.

This year is going to be bad for tax, assuming I can stomach working the full year. I need some imaginative deductions.

Usually when oil goes up miners, airlines etc go down, and vice versa.

You may appreciate that what these workers are demanding is more pay than you made as a senior Captain, and more than 99% of the enlisted personnel in the U.S. Military at the top - for a 31 hour work week.

Even for the $28 an hour average, a Master Sergeant has to be in 30 years to reach the pay they are demanding - BEFORE overtime and BEFORE we consider the 20% cut in work hours.

Maybe the soldiers are underpaid? Maybe pay the soldiers more? No! The car makers must be paid less instead.

An out-of-touch NR comment? Why shouldn't anyone demand more pay? Prices go up on stuff, but if people are greedy if they want pay to keep up?

Looking at the chart, an army captain would make pay in their first year comparable to senior enlisted ranks after a few years plus benefits for whatever all that's worth to someone. You have to be up there a bit to start earning 5 figures a month. This balance has gotten out of whack as military pay raises accelerated through the 90s and the first decade of the new millennium. At the same time, according to the research, average wages across the U.S. have dropped.

Officers, generally, are making closer to the 77th percentile of comparable civilian wages, while enlisted troops are at the 85th percentile.

“These findings suggest that the RMC percentiles may be too high, since recruit quality today exceeds DoD’s benchmarks and, further, quality and retention both exceed the levels observed during the late 1980s and mid-1990s, when the 70th percentile was established,” the report found. “That said, these findings do not necessarily imply that the 70th percentile continues to be the appropriate benchmark.”

What a thing, going to school for most your childhood life is a "useless" qualification, and going to college (yes, even engineering) lands some people jobs at Starbucks.
