Oh shit. Guess we fail then.

It's kind of an American thing that we all have a yard behind our homes...
the street Uzi linked to will have more than a yard behind. houses in the city town won't have big gardens at the front of course, which i think someone pointed out earlier as though it's a bad thing about the houses.

That means next to nothing to me Never been to Cali.

Edit - I almost drove across the border just so I could say I've been to Cali when I was in Vegas but you have like customs agents at your border so I didn't want to have the hassle

Do you still use acreage? What size plots are we talking about?

You won't find anything bigger than maybe 1/4 for a private home in NYC. Outside of it though, like where my gf grew up, there are 8 acre minimums for each plot.

all the times I crossed that border, that post has only been manned once.  im talking like 1 out of 13 times or something like that.  but technically i live in altadena, which is an unincorporated community surrounded by pasadena on all sides except the north where the mountains and the angeles national forest is.  we get patrolled by the LASD and have to go to school in pasadena district.

lawl. peasant. Isn't your dad a hat salesman or something? Since when did you get royal blood? I would love to see your scrawny ass up on a palfrey trying to bring terror down upon the peasantry. You'd be laughed off your horse.

lol no y dad isn't a hat salesman

wtf is this an arthur miller play or something. we're not all first-generation. in england old money vs. new money is a big thing.

afaik family wealth originates in land-owning gentry during napoleonic wars when shit was handed out

now your turn to give a rags-to-riches cry me a river immigrant story, no?

Why would I cry you a river? I'm well aware of who I am and where I come from. I don't think you realize how little money means in the grand scheme of things. My girlfriends parents were middle class growing up and now they're quite well off. Her mom is a teacher by choice and her father is a bond salesman. I've met their friends, many of whom are stockbrokers and the like and the thing that has always struck me is how retardedly simple it is to amass wealth if you go into the right field and put in your time. These aren't rocket scientists by any means. I respect their wealth for sure, but I recognize that the only thing that differentiates me from them is about forty years of work and the ability to not squander every penny that you take in. There isn't a whole lot more to it. So... talk to me in forty years and we'll compare portfolios.

Edit - I'm up 26% on my portfolio since June. While it's paltry, it's a start.
