Hey, you stole my line!

But yeah.  As entertaining as Art is, I'm glad he's in the minority.

haha sure there's loonies on both sides, but nothing makes me lawl more than someone getting destroyed in an argument and reverting to 3rd grade rhetoric to pass the time until it's over.  Paladino is KING of this type of shit.  Call him out on one thing, and you are now "undermining the entire process of democracy".  Good show...
Sadly, I'm still going to vote for him just because his last name isn't Cuomo.

Oh...was that you?

See, you realize people like that are in the minority in American politics. But because they are the ones that get all the publicity due to their antics/positions, those outside the US (or those in the US who are uninformed) are led to believe that he and those like him are the norm, rather than the outliers. And thus we get "right-wing religious nutters running the US government" bullshit from our foreign friends here. Not because it is fact, but because it is what they perceive from what they are fed by the media.

I can agree with that, but I believe there is a bit of that regarding the Middle East from our perspectives as well.

A lot of Americans fear Muslims because we constantly are pushed toward this connection with 9/11.  The whole Islamic Community Center in Ground Zero controversy is ridiculous.

But our media is doing a full-court press to differentiate the fundamentalist Muslims from the mainstream Muslims in support of the center. The only ones really against the center are the far-right pundits. The news outlets are actually doing a pretty fair job of presenting both sides of the issue on that one and putting it into context.

Well, he's the scary part though.  Several candidates (including one even in NC) are successfully using this controversy as an issue.  You would think that what NYC chooses to do at Ground Zero would just be a NY issue, but apparently, the fearmongers in far away states even seem to care.

It just amazes me that, in a shitty economy, people rally around trivial shit.

And 99% of them never want to visit NYC for fear of contaminating their children with liberal ideas. They might even run into a gay person with green hair, tattoos and a nose ring who is skateboarding. Can't have that.

That movie was semi-awful.

Nah, Idaho makes Utah look liberal by comparison.

who would believe that such idiocy would have a place in the commons in 2010...

The point being (see previous posts) that it's most definitely NOT "in the commons".
