I'll give you Soros then.  I didn't watch your link, but I did watch a clip of Breitbart where he was talking with NewLeftMedia.  They just asked him a few questions, and he was just...   creepy.

The thing is...  he's intelligent and somewhat clever, but he has this slightly hyper way of speaking that seems psychotic.  It's hard to describe, but he seems like the kind of guy who is secretly a serial killer.  He just has that vibe about him.

But yeah, the reason I hate him is what he did to Shirley Sherrod.  She should sue his ass for creating that fiasco.

EDIT: Mixed up Shirley Sherrod with Sherrod Brown.

Dunno shit about that -but sure why not?  If she's got a valid grievance, she should sue.  If he fucked up, I hope he pays.

Since you won't watch but will read, the gist of it was -a demonstration where people were mobilized just because the party needed them to protest.  Breitbart basically caught on to it and exploited it, by asking them questions.  The group runs off after calling him gay.

The Tea party, whatever the politics of it -was real grassroots.  What happened above was astroturf shit.  I've personally watched the SEIU send the purple shirts in force to government meetings.  They flood the room acting pissed off and all want to speak.  It does them no good, for when they do arise it is obvious they've been coached on what to say and after a few questions demonstrate their true knowledge of the situation.  They just know that Glenn Beck is against them and that's good enough.

The argument I make is that Stewart and Colber are perpetuating the same...  And that's f'n low brow.

*edit:edit:

On that note of low brow I have been told by people who do press that they are instructed to not write shit (speech/releases) that cannot be understood above the 3rd grade level.  That seems about where S&C are at.

Which side is that exactly? I take it you don't watch the daily show, which is fine. But don't talk as if it only takes one side. It does come off a bit, ignorant. Tuesday night Jon said "I don't know who is to blame Mr. President. You for making this shit looks so good, or us for buying it." it doesn't get more blunt than that. Stewart goes after the left plenty. The rally is a mockery of the fringe of both sides.. Those people who think it's normal

I suggest you guys watch the video.. I don't personally see it as a right/left event. Jon Stewart imagines himself as the kid who sat in the back of the class throwing spitballs behind the teachers back.. Well the teacher is now a Democrat.

I totally agree that the SEIU is full of shit.

Granted, the Tea Party proves that you can be grassroots and still not know shit about what you're angry about.

To be honest, most grassroots movements have a small percentage of leaders that are actually educated about the topic they are protesting, while the rest of the people are just blind followers.  The same is true for political parties in general.

So, in that respect, the Tea Party isn't that different from the big two parties.  The only reason I hate them is because their most vocal elements are fucking crazy.

Stewart and Colbert are just there for amusement.  I don't try to read anything more into it than that.  They are criticizing the hysteria propagated by the Tea Party, but that's a simple enough message that people can get behind that without much knowledge of the system.

And yeah, 3rd grade reading level is the status quo.  That's because a lot of people are dumb as shit and because certain areas of America have shitty education systems.

They are lefties .. but they are entertainers first. Stewart does not hesitate to take shots at the left. The President, Reid, and Pelosi are some of his favorite targets. If you haven't watched recently and regularly then you're probably stuck with the opinion that The Daily Show is all anti-Right. I think Stewart has some of the best writers in Cable TV. Colbert is a 100% Satirist, and yes his shtick is predictable. I think it's that over the top predictability that sells it for him. That's what satire does.. and no, it's not everyone's cup of tea (pun intended). Some people, not necessarily you usm, are so upset that their side is being poked at that they are incapable of recognizing obvious humor and wit. .. it has even been conspired that these two entertainers are manipulating, masking their (evil left) agenda behind comedy *spooky music. The truth is that Comedy is their agenda. .. disappointing, I know.

Here Stewart mocks the bailout, points out easy softball questions, makes fun of "Obama-zombies" (aka his base), and jabs right at the president..

I'm talking about the media. Wheras networks like Fox actively work to advance incorrect assumptions to pander to their Market base and use spin and manipulation to distort everything to do this, Stewart and Colbert are using satire and parody respectively to actually highlight a bit of a rationality problem and to try and show that the majority of Americans aren't part of the kneejerk reaction crowd who, instead of actually looking at fact or reasoned debate, would just call you Hitler if it meant not having to be corrected.
erm...no.  once again here we go.  msnbc is just as bad for the other side yet nobody cares.  and colbert and stewart are tools who recycle old jokes.
You've missed my point, so much so that I'm actually copy/pasting it at the end of this. I mentioned Fox because it seems to me to be the main offender but I'm not talking about sides and I'm not bothered to go into that because it would take far too much effort. You don't need to think Stewart and Colbert are funny to undestand what they're doing - which, as I said, is to highlight a bit of a rationality problem and to try and show that the majority of Americans aren't part of the kneejerk reaction crowd.

I guess I'm that somebody, as I'm the only other one in this thread that isn't a daily show lover besides Marine.   First, I don't have a side.  Second, I do see and recognize the 'humor/wit' (or lack therof) in what they are doing.  However, I call bullshit on your 'they're doing it for comedy'.

Money and mob influence are the motivations behind this -all whilst mocking an individual and a group.  But then again (and no offense) you've been a daily show fan boy for quite some time, so you would only see comedy.

Thanks for the Stewart OB mock clip.  I guess since Bush left office, he needed more show content.

"I believe that legislation of this enormous magnitude, that by necessity we are moving quickly -- we're not moving quickly because we're trying to jamb something down people's throats.  We're moving quickly because we're told that if we don't move quickly, that the economy is going keep on getting worse, and we'll have another 2 or 3 or 4 million jobs loss this year." -BO

I'm also not hyper sensitive. Yes I am a fan, and of course I take no offense to that. People are fans of all sorts of things. You might be a fan of wearing high heels and stocking, I don't know (JK). I'm quite capable of seeing the political implications. In fact the comedy would make zero sense if I didn't see it.

Yes they have political opinions, and yes they make that quite clear. Just because they wrap their opinions up in comedy it doesn't make them untouchable. I think you are the only one making that assumption here. "The Mob" is just a sinister way to say audience, when talking about a TV show.

I recognize that the bottom dollar most-important thing for these guys is making people laugh. Even if it is a contradiction of "sides".
You, perhaps inadvertently, admitted you know that. "I guess since Bush left office, he needed more show content."

There is plenty more of those clips .. you just have to be able to tolerate your personal side taking a hit as well. I don't agree with Stewart on A LOT of things. I still think the man is funny. .. and seemingly intelligent.

Ya, but only if you tie that to when people stop laughing, they stop watching, the ad shares go bye-bye and so does the show.  No money, no megaphone.

The 'since Bush left' line was no accident as I have seen him hit the left.  The Union piece was among the shows finest segments imo.  Stewart is intelligent, sharp as a tack and has unmatched wit.  I wouldn't want to debated him.  He also says funny things from time to time.  But do I like his on air persona and smug attitude?  No, but then again I haven't really liked the show much since Kilborn left.

I'd get sick of people deliberately misinterpreting me if it wasn't expected by now.

NO, not the crowd with legitimate concerns, who actually THINK before they bellyache. How many times to I have to say that this is not about sides it's about simple fucking rationality; something that seems to be in incredibly short supply. To try and emphasise this again, THIS IS NOT ABOUT SIDES.

The crowd I'm talking about an the crowd that people like Stewart are referring to are the ones who are opposed to Obama because they believe him to be an Islam extremist, not because they neccesarily disagree with any of his policies. The ones who use the "Hitler" debate at the drop of a hat regardless of what a policy is and regardless of whether they even understand it. The ones who say that allowing gays to marry will bring down the very fabric of time and reality. The ones who believe that anyone with more melenin than them are a threat to national security. The irrational members of the loud minority with too much time on their hands who are more likely to shout and wave misinformed placards than actually learn anything about what they're opposing. The fucking stupids who broadcast this steriotype that Americans are loud, fat, ignorant and misinformed.

And because you may have forgotten, this is not about sides. All sides of poliics have these uppity idiots. All sides of politics are likely to subscribe to media that confirms their mistaken predisposed dispositions instead of actually getting straight facts and drawing conclusons from them. What this Stewart/Colbert rally is doing is, firstly, to show that not everyone in America is like the person I described before, and secondly to tell these people to calm the fuck down and show a little rationality. I think this is a fair call - and not just in America either.

Oh, but Ty it is all sides -whether you're left, right, or center...  Stewart/Colbert are digging at the teaparty guys with this demonstration, using comedy as a sales pitch.  "We're the normal ones! Stop acting so crazy"  Its brilliant, but still bullshit and I'm surprised you can't see through it.  The teaparty people have very good reasons to be pissed.  They are actually the ones up against the 'radicals' with a radical agenda.  There's no way this country would have elected this guy if his intentions/agenda were well known before the election.  Your perception of that group is sadly wayyyy off, which means the left media (and shows like 'the daily show') have done their job quite well.

That's crap, you've just put your own spin on this. It's not even about the Tea Party. Throughout all of this I haven't caught Stewart talking about the Tea Party and his rally in the same breath. He has used the more ridiculous aspects of the Tea Party for comedic purposes, namely the witchcraft aspects and anti-masturbation sentiment, but that's what he does to everyone, (and it was just focused on one person.) The more he focuses on them is only reletive to the amount of material that they themselves provide for him to use. And for fuck's sake man, the crowd I mentioned in my previous post have existed since way before the Tea Party stuff. I haven't even been talking about the Tea Party people, (hang on I'll just check my previous posts on this thread... nope, not one mention.) I don't see how my perception of that group can be 'wayyyy off' if I haven't been talking about it. It suggest that your perception of people with a perception on the Tea Party group is 'wayyyy off' - I hope this isn't getting too confusing.

Your bringing up of the Tea Party thing brings to my mind Occam's Razor; "'the simplest solution is most probably the correct one". Where I see this rally and see a group of people getting together to protest the ridiculous aspects of society in a humorous way, (which is what it is on face value,) you see this rally and see a group of people with a biased political agenda getting together to protest a specific political group. It borders on conspiracy theory mate. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

And on that note, since I percieve this rally as nothing more than a group of people getting together to protest the ridiculous aspects of society in a humorous way it means that it has in no way influenced me politically, it can't. Maybe the left wing media and deviants at The Daily Show haven't done their job as well as you suggest.
