Well, I'm no fan of Christianity or Islam, but I gotta say... this is no regular Christian congregation.Uzique wrote:

when regular christian congregations start to burn islamic books and commit acts of iconoclasm... it adds a crusader-like tinge

I stood in line for four hours. They better give me a Wal-Mart gift card, or something. - Rodney Booker, Job Fair attendee.
Good publicity stunt. He and Pat Robertson should go support some African dictators together.

You've attended and noted this, right? Please do go on and describe the AR-15s you found stashed in the baptismal tank ready for guerrilla warfare. One little group gets national press by doing something stupid and everyone in the general demographic is American taliban. Gotta love it.Reciprocity wrote:

The paradox is only a conflict between reality and your feeling what reality ought to be.

I believe the pastor's planned actions fall within his rights. True, though, that by burning copies of the Koran, American lives will be put in increased danger, but only because the media decided to make a widely publicized issue out of it. Freedom isn't free, either.
Definitely not. The average Muslim has no interest in burning Bibles just as the average Christian has no interest in burning Korans.FatherTed wrote:

Most religious people aren't fanatical.
The only reason I dislike religion is because it's a slippery slope. It's easy for an otherwise rational person to become a fanatic when the basis of their ideology lacks empirical proof, because fanatics will sometimes find clever ways to pull moderates into their schemes through divisive issues. So while the average Christian or Muslim has the potential to become a fanatic, they haven't already made that error.
