Pretty damn overkill ram compared to rest of the setup.

It was £30 £50 more than my previous intended and £50 £40 less than everywhere else I saw (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu … ubcat=1392).

Took the opportunity, and RAM is the thing I rarely upgrade.

Yeah, overkill, but yay, more fans..?

E: Hmm... Oh well, too late now.

THe fans are worst thing in the package tbh. I haven't even unboxed them as they are not needed unless you plan to insulate the interior of your PC and remove all fans.

Those fans won't do jack shit to the overall temp of your PC...

Not like ram produce any significant heat

And they will be noisy as fuck...

Well I have to change the delivery details of it on monday, so I'll ask if it's too late to change that.

Like I said, not too bothered, but if they're as useless as you two are suggesting, then if it's possible to swap them, I will.

E: Plan on really pushing this PC for all it's worth. Clocking it as far as air will take me, then moving on to water and going as far as that and the motherboard will go, then continuing. I'm still not 100% sure on what's involved in RAM overclocking, but I can learn. I've read that it's useful, but only in two cases: Case has bad airflow (mine doesn't) or voltages go >3V. So if I can't get it replaced, it's not like I'm losing out completely

With voltages over 3V your super expensive Dominators go kaput extremely fast. Not to talk about that even 2V is enough to kill the integrated memory controller of i7 in a day worst.

You would need to go well past 5GHz wich is hardly doable with LN2 to be limited by ram when overclocking i7. There are a lot of lower ram dividers.

Saw some more decently prices 3x2GB 1333MHz sticks for bit over £100 at ocuk yesterday. Don't get me wrong, that is extremely sweet ram, but heck it is going totally waste in PC like yours, there is not a chance you would be ram limited even with watercooling, and that £80 would be better spent elsewhere.

I already had pretty much most expensive mobo at the time, and PSU, and decent SSD etc. so I got DominatorGT's too, but really, when your ram is more expensive than your motherboard and even graphics card you need to think what you are doing.

Hmm... Definitely have a point there.

Like I said, I'll see what I can do.

If I can't swap them, maybe I'll see if I can eBay them for £180 or >

Little warning, I doubt that Noctua will fit with those high profile rams. Wait someone mentioned that already, well Megahalems is pretty much equally good with 2 decent fans, fits with tall rams and performs better than the H50 too.
