that's messages... a lot of programs and services can send/receive SMS without phone-calls...

and contacts are sync'd from your computer/mac/iphone/library... it's not only phone-numbers...

i think the UI shots are meant to be generic shots of the new iOS anyway: to show off folders/groups rather than specific iTouch stuff.
