US spent around 300 billion a year AFAIK on "European Defense," including bases, wages, upkeep and financial support.

I think you are mistaking neutral Sweden for Norway on this subject...
Actually, Finland is the only Nordic nation that actively fought alongside the Germans in WWII and that was only because Russia invaded them during the Winter War first. Denmark? Conquered. Norway? Conquered. Sweden? Neutral.
