Here's a thing I thought I'd want to know.

There are vast cultural differences in taxi seating. In some places the front seat is out of the question, in other you are considered a stuck up snob if you ride in the back when there's no-one else on the ride (unless you're a woman, in which case the back is always fine).

So what is the culture in your country and how does this affect your seat of choice?

I ride in the front and talk about idiot drivers and bicyclists who don't know how to yield etc. sports, weather, whatever. If the convo's good, I tip the driver 5-10 %.

BONUS QUESTION!
Is it customary to tip in your country? If not, do you do it anyway and why?

BONUS ANSWER: Yeah, I tip ... usually rounds up the price to fit whatever bill I have in my pocket ...

Always in the back, unless my mates make me go in the front, I never tip cause unless im really drunk or in a really good mood, or both.

True, I'm happy if the price is E.g. 17 €, so I can give the driver a 20 € note and say that it's even. If it's 19.50, I'm fucked. I go debit card many a time in that case and write the extra down to match the percentage, but it's a hassle, and I'm usually too drunk to do maths when I find myself in a cab.

What's the "standard" seating policy in your respective countries?

this bartender in ayia napa made me quite a few cocktails and out of the goodness of my heart i was thinking about maybe giving him a tip when i ordered my last drink (not that he deserves it, hes doing his job like everyone else, he gets a wage, why do bars deserve tips?) before we left that bar.  as i was paying for my next to last drink and he was returning my change to me he said "i think i deserve this no?" and began to place it in his tip box! wtf! CUNT. you dont ask for tips you stupid blonde prick, i let him have it anyway seen as i was in a good mood, hes very lucky, any other day and theres a chance he could of got knocked the fuck out. prick

Didn't look that far back, but sure, I'll give this the ol' close before people start revolting. (especially as there's also a previous thread about where you ride in a taxi a la DrunkFace) My OP was pretty good though, even if I say it myself.
