Rocksteady's released the first teasing story details for Batman: Arkham City, following the game's reveal this afternoon on the front of a US games mag.
According to the developer, Arkham City "builds upon the intense, atmospheric foundation of Batman: Arkham Asylum, sending players soaring into Arkham City, the new maximum security 'home' for all of Gotham City's thugs, gangsters and insane criminal masterminds."
As expected, the sequel's set inside the now "heavily fortified" walls of a sprawling district in the heart of Gotham City, the developer's said, and a brand-new story that "draws together a new all-star cast of classic characters and murderous villains from the Batman universe, " is promised.
Of course we already know that part of the "all-star" cast includes Cat Woman, Mr. Freeze and Two-Face.
Rocksteady also reckons "a vast range of new and enhanced gameplay features" will deliver "the ultimate experience as the Dark Knight."

Arkham Asylum 2 has been revealed as Batman: Arkham City, via the cover of US mag Game Informer.
"Almost exactly a year ago, Batman: Arkham Asylum launched to wide acclaim and millions in sales. Now, developer Rocksteady Studios returns to the the franchise that put the company's name on the map to blow away gamers all over again," the mag writes. As you can see, the first images reveal Cat Woman as a main villain in the sequel (though we reckon should could even be a co-op partner), though we already know via leaks that Mr. Freeze and Two-Face are also set to appear.
