Will you be buying Win7 or do you have a copy already?

Also...added the superclocked EVGA 460 for now cause the regular one wasn't in stock.

Similar to ebug's build. Right click -> view image.
$1,093.88
Look for an aftermarket HSF if you plan on OC'ing.

If you have a Microcenter within driving distance go there for the processor. i7 930 for $200 and i5 750 for $170. Best purchase I made while on holiday

couple of things with this, As far as I'm concerned it could use a sound card, and a blu-ray burner, instead of a dvd burner.
Also, a fan will be needed for the cooler, for slightly more you could go with the corsair H50
another great case option for 50 bucks more (the one I would get) is:

All of these are really good, I recommend any of them. Probably ebugs most. Might wanna grab a CPU cooler though.

Since your budget is quite high, I'd recommend getting a SSD for your boot, maybe even your PS install(?).

@kimmmm: A solid state drive is much faster than a normal spinning drive. If you put your operating system boot on a solid state, your computer will boot (about) twice as fast. Photoshop should boot faster as well, if you put your installation on that drive.

I don't, it didn't fit in my budget at the time.

Ig has one though, and he likes his. We use them at work occasionally for higher performance machines, and the difference is very noticeable. About twice as fast to reboot/upgrade/etc.

Removed WD Blue 500GB and added Intel 80GB Solid State Drive
Replaced 1TB with 2TB WD Hard Drive
Replaced 1GB GTX460 with 768MB GTX460
Added heatsink

Just remember Windows 7 would be another $100 on top of that.

*With a regular WD Caviar Black 500GB Hard Drive, the price is $1,277.87*

Add this to my build, and just get more as you fill them, they will get cheaper.

For the main drive maybe. For the storage one, speed doesn't matter.

Meh 2x7200rpm 1TB drives should be better than 1x5400 2TB drive...

And the price is the same...

Again if she's dumping RAW picture files on it, speed doesn't matter.

Well when the prices of HDDs are as low as they are, it's not worth it not paying those last few dollars to get the best...

And look at my above post aswell

Listen, if faster costs the same and is cheaper in the long run, then it's stupid to buy the slower for the same price as the faster...

the seagates? meh, its just picture storage, doesn't need to be that fast, it saves space and power cords in the computer as well. So it allows for more future expansion if she is gonna be taking that many photos.
