He in the US our major pro sports leagues have had lockouts. Basically the players union and owners dont agree and they strike. so typically the games stop or they bring in scab players. i for one have had enough. I bring this up because the NBA and NFL are swirling with lockout talks over the next couple years. I can tell you (being such an old man) I have been thru a couple lockouts and came back. Well no fucking more. I have learned your time and your money are some of the few things in this world you can control. So, the next sport to lockout I am done with...hopefully for good. I know people may say so what no big deal. But, I am one of those fans who not only support the team but support the sponsors.

Question.....in England have they ever had a lockout in football or rugby?

i've never been back to a baseball game since their lockout. the last time the NBA did it, was the last for me. if football locks out, i'll be college only.

fuck 'em. good point 11 B, we do have some say over the ginourmous salaries, if we voted with our wallet . . .

@jord, it's not a boycott, it's when the players union can't agree to some terms laid down by the owners, so the players refuse to play the game. it's the absolute height of arrogance and greed in a professional sport.

Strike = players refuse to play
Lockout = teams refuse to let players play

I have given up watching baseball since the strike. (Montreal was the best team that year too). Games are waaaaaay too fucking long anyway.
I rarely watch a regular season hockey game. Playoff hockey on the other hand...

Canadian football is awesome.

I remember the Chicago White Soxs with a prime Big Hurt, Robin Ventura, Bo Jackson maybe Carlton Fisk in the lead of their divison in 199?, then the stirke/lockout came which killed the season and my desire to watch anymore baseball.

IF I am not mistaken there was a stirke/lockout two or three seasong after a first lockout, which was foolish because people (like myself) still had that bad taste from the first lock out. Oh well ~
