this camera allows me to capture sooooo much hand held, that i'm becoming lazy (not lugging the tripod around . . .) the lens is my 75-300mm. i don't use it that often.

it is 81, it is tagged correctly, and it is an insanely sharp picture - when i try to capture movement, i must be moving too, because that capture has awesome detail . . .

I took this in Canberra today (well "yesterday", but I haven't slept yet). The uni photoclub went on a roadtrip over the weekend to see Floriade, and these two were in my car for the trip. The shot was taken with a 35L + 5D Mark II. Orgasmic depth of field. I will get this gear one day.

i'm self taught. i don't think i would have learned as much as i did, as fast as i did, without the internet + digital photography.
that includes bf2s, and Kmarion, mcminty, and a little later Wallpaper giving tips and critique.
if i were to shoot Mt. Rushmore, i could do a decent job. if i were to shoot a centerfold for Playboy, not so much.

Im self taught too (actually taking my first photography class now), having the ability to experiment and throw away pictures with digital is invaluable for learning, I dont think I would have gotten into it if I had to learn the basics on film... especially with macros. I also got the majority of my knowledge from reading forums, such as photography on the net, bf2s and another gaming community site. You can also learn quite a bit by just looking at good picture on flickr, asking questions on how the picture was taken, etc.
