I always hate the "australian" accent you hear on American tv shows. It doesn't sound aussie at all.

It's just an American putting on a fake accent that is terribly inaccurate.

It should be noted that our PM's accent no more reflects the Kiwi accent than Julia Gillard's accent represents the Aussie accent. Basically the Kiwi accent is what's on Flight of the Conchords; nasally, mumbled and barely intelligible. And those guys are from Wellington so that's pretty much my accent.

Few 'eh bros' or upwards inflections though. The latter in particular is a characteristic of the Kiwi bogan and it can be found in every English-speaking country.

Never liked the Kiwi accent so I try to mute mine as much as possible but this generally just means that I sound like a twat.

Having been in Orstraya a while I'm sure I have one of those horrible hybrid accents everyone hates, including me.
Many British accents now sound comical, I can barely tell if they're real or put on.
