It looks like I will be getting an extension on my car loan to buy a pc
What do you think of this, and please feel free to comment and suggest something better
Amount will be $1500 or so?
I already have moniter, mouse, keyboard case
Thermaltake Soprano Fx, so its fairly big, brand new but several years old... Ive been wanting to do this for years
Do different cpu pinouts have advantages over others or is it just a case of different cpu's being offered. (If you know what i mean )
Intel Core i7 2600K 3.4GHz Turbo 8M Cache $333.56
Asus P8Z68-V-M PRO MB, Socket 1155, Intel Z68 Chipset, 4x DDR3, HDMI, DVI, D-SUB, DP, CrossFireX, SATA3, GbLAN, 8CH, USB3.0, mATX $147.14
Kingston 2GB DDR3 1333MHz CL9 DIMM RAM $24.43 ea
I have no idea what type of ram I should get and how much
Thermaltake 500W POWER SUPPLY - OEM $52.13
Will any power supply fit? and how much power would I need?
Graphics card...HDD's
Dont even know where to start with these
And I will also need all wiring to go with it
Im assuming some will come with the mobo etc
I will probably go to MSY unless someone can recommend somewhere online thats good
Thanks for the help

Here's a build I did a couple weeks ago for a mate. It's a really nice build and pretty good bang for buck. All up it's a tad over $1000 but you can add another $100 to that if you need a copy of Windows 7.
A good starting point for you anyway.
i5 2500K

Sapphire 2GB HD6950

Samsung 1TB F3

ASRock Z68 Extreme 3

8GB G. Skill Ripjaws 1333Mhz

Corsair TX-650V2
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?mai … s_id=17211
Samsung DVD Drive

Since you already have a case, if you still wanted to spend >~$1000 then you could grab yourself an SSD (like a OCZ Vertex 3) and upgrade the PSU to something like a Corsair HX-750 in case you plan on crossfire later.

I've been told that an i5 will suffice for gaming, dont really think i7 would be necessary?Nappy wrote:

For RAM, you could get away with 8GB for a reasonable price these days, DDR3 fo shizzle.
As for the power supply, I'd probably get a 750w, just because you'll be running some high-powered shtuff. Plus all of the cabling originates from the PSU.
Graphics... shit I dunno. GTX 560?
Tried umart? They're pretty good.
noice
thanks for that
I did this based on what youve posted above
And thats all good to get windows 7 x64? how do you get a copy for $100?

For a second I thought you were talking about my post and wondered how the hell did you do anything based upon it.
If you want the build to last then stick with 8GB of RAM (it's dirt cheap, you can always upgrade later) and grab yourself a more powerful graphics card instead (I recommend a HD6950)Nappy wrote:

OEM version of Win7 is $95.

Can anyone get an OEM copy though? do you need to provide proof that you sell pcs?
You can buy OEM versions from retailers
Your thoughts, insights, and musings on this matter intrigue me
OEM basically means no support from Microsoft and supposedly* it can only go on one PC ever.

here in the States, you can get OEM if you buy Microsoft hardware. shops will sell you a copy if you buy a Microsoft mouse, or keyboard, whatever. true for OEM Office too.Cybargs wrote:

Some retailers even sell the OEM and then give you a €2 mouse for free because they have to...13urnzz wrote:
