Yes, as a domestic student it cost me ~$5500 a year, and rent was free cause I lived at home with the parents and I got cheap public transport cause I was a student.

Ahh, if you're doing it as an exchange program then I think you'll just pay your domestic universities fees and not the "international" rate for Australian universities. Although I am probably wrong and you should check that out with the university first.

My dumb ass mate who's doing science gets half price on his subjects as they are matched by the government due to a "shortage" in that area.

But petrol is a bitch, I do 500km a week.. 8.6L/100km @ average of what, $1.25?

30 x 500 x 0.086 x 1.25 = $1612.50/yr

Rego = what 400? Can't remember.

Insurance is easy 1200 - prolly more. Can't remember

If I drove to uni, petrol and insurance would be the least of my concerns. The $20 a day parking would have been the killer.

I got it for 1.29 about 5 minutes before it went up to 1.39.

Hahaha.. oh god. Most awesome Australia Day. ever.

The story begins a week ago, when my friend, who was out of town at the time, finds out that his mum's newish Golf has been stolen. Apparently they had broken into the house at 3am, seen the car keys and just driven it away. When he got back, it was long gone..

Cut to today. We had been thinking about going to the beach, but in a collective "cbf to get up that early" my group decided not to. Instead, someone offered up a house that they were house sitting for an afternoon BBQ/swim party. My mate parks in a side street nearby and gets out to see his mum's car up the fucking road!

It was in perfect condition - still had the number plates, rims, radio, or anything else one might steal. It was however locked (to which the police officer complained "bastards... wasting my time". )

Eventually his mum arrived, with the forensic guy getting there soon after. He dusted the car down for prints - that looked pretty cool They were able to take the car home that afternoon, and hopefully they will get a hit with the fingerprints.

But damn.. none of us can still really believe the luck we had in finding it. Parking in the same street, while going to a house party at a house that none of us have been to before, all because we just couldn't be bothered to go to the beach
