I miss the old AU chat.
And I'm depressed, and thinking of becoming a problem drinker. Right now.

Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.
Drinking doesn't really help with depression, unless you're depressed about not drinking.
You've got three days left to grow a moustache, go for it.

Yeah, not the best time for jokes.
I'm not drinking but this isn't the normal foul mood. This is my little problem rearing its ugly head again. Fuck this shit.
Might go for a drive in my ute. It has an alloy tray, fuck all tread left on the tires, and there's been a storm so the roads are nice and slippery.

Well its very different to what we use now. Especially the front and rear section which aren't camo but help to keep them cool. If it was introduced into wide usage they would obviously have the cool "outside the wire" version and the regular full camo uniform.KuSTaV wrote:

But if you compare
old
to new
I'm still a fan of the new uniform. Obviously they'll keep refining it, but if the SOTG (SAS/2CDO) guys like it, then I'd say its probably pretty good. They were originally going to introduce a "midpoint" (between desert and woodland) uniform with the same Auscam pattern. But turned out it was a pretty terrible pattern and lit up in night optics like a "neon target"
Should I take a job in Sydney?
Would be in central Sydney, a PITA job and probably last a year or so.
OTOH pretty good money.

List the Pros and Cons bruz
everything i write is a ramble and should not be taken seriously.... seriously. ♥
Pros:
Money, pretty good actually
Its a job, I'm not working at present and there is sod-all I can find in Adelaide, unless I get a fork-lift license in which case I'd be laughing (at the pay mostly)
Its in one of my odd niche skillz (opto-electronics packaging) and might lead on to some related job, eg connected to the NBN.
Cons:
I don't like big-city life, wouldn't want to live there long term
Such life as I have is in Adelaide which I'd lose, family, friends, shooting, outdoors etc.
Chances are it would only last a year or so then back to square one.
Its likely to be high pressure, stressful work - creating new technology quickly is hard - and ~8+ hrs a day at a computer screen doing CAD, teleconferencing with Japanese and Chinese.....
My opto-electronics skills are actually quite limited, although not as bad as almost everyone else I know in the business so that must put me near the top... could still be found out though.

Sounds like a hard-working job.
LBJ, ah right. Yeah I saw the difference of the older and newer uniforms, pretty decent.

A year isn't that long, so you don't have to put up with city life for alll that long
Good on your resume too no?
