$15 for 4 new maps, some vehicles and weapons. Remember when Special Forces came out and you got a shitton more stuff and maps and it was totally worth it?

And are these 4 new maps that are actually new and different, or is it the same map with 4 different modes and they're pulling the same shit they did with regular BC2?

SF:
Maps: 8
Price: €30.-

BFBC2 Vietnam:
Maps: 4
Price: €10.-

30/8 = 3.75
10/4 = 2.5
3.75/2.5 = 1.5

=>You get 1.5 times more maps with the BFBC2V than with SF.

Well, if that happens, the result of my above calculation would drastically sink to 2.6 times less maps.

I thought SF was $20 and not $30 (at least when I bought it)
And over here, the Vietnam expansion is $15.

Maybe Europeans get a better deal, but this is weak. (And that's coming from someone who spent $15 on 10 "new" [6 new, 4 recycled] maps for MW2 for god knows what reason).

You talking about the BF2 SF? Because I think that set me back €30. Mind you, not dollars, but euros.

Yeah, the BF2 SF. I didn't get mine until a year or so after it came out, so maybe that's why the price was lower. I assumed it had always been $20.

Yes, €30 was the original price.
And I'm quite sure that they already used the notorious 1$=1€ conversion back then.

I was "unlucky" and spent €100 in total for all four BF2 retail games, only a few weeks before the Complete Collection was first released.
(And I also didn't get to save money with the Deluxe Edition, since I thought I would only play vanilla and the boosters, and wouldn't be bothered to switch back and forth to SF.)

Yes, that's approximately the €10 I mentioned.

Yeah, 4 maps for $15 is not a bad deal...less than 4 dollars per map, and if you play it for more than a week (the real kicker here...), then you've got your money's worth.

I give Dice some credit for realizing that the people who play their games aren't complete sheep, and that no one would buy that expansion for over the price they're asking...

So it turns out that servers can run either vietnam or vanilla maps but not both in the same rotation, the same as it was with SF. Those 4 maps are going to get very fucking boring very quickly.

And so much for not wanting to split the community

It would suck if you don't have the DLC and you end up getting booted by every server once a DLC map starts.

It makes sense to keep them apart.

What you're saying does make sense, but if servers are going to be either BC2 or BC2:V anyway, I would prefer that the BC2:V servers at least give you the chance to play the expansion maps and the standard ones.  I guess it's too much of a coding headache.

I was hoping for some rumble in the jungle servers with Valparaiso, Laguna Presa and all the Vietnam maps.

True.
I too was hoping that it would have worked like the BF2 booster packs EF and AF, with maps and assets being in the same rotations, unlike the expansion SF, which basically was a handled like a mod, thus separate.

Because if you can run both maps in the same rotation, you can be sure that the players also have the vanilla maps too, thus you could tag your server as a Vietnam server to warn people that they'll get booted if they don't have it, but still be able to have the complete fun with the old maps too.

That is, if Dice don't intend to make Vietnam a stand-alone game, that doesn't need BFBC2 to be played...

I just saw BC2 was down to $19.95 in walmart today, didnt take long for the price to drop. so this BC2 Vietnam will be offered in stores like BF2 SF was or will it be a download?

might go out and snag BC2 now that its dropped to below $20 from $60..

then again PR 0957 has been the shit so I may pass.
